Citizen Kane (1940)
Casablanca (1942)
Lawrence of Arabia (1960)
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1967?)
Dirty Harry (1972)
Dark Night...agree with Richie
Some Like It Hot (Funniest movie evah!)

I will add more to this list with commentary but its nearly midnight and I have to get up at 5:30 for a 15hr workday....

Lemme guess.  You googled AFI's top 100?

No David, I did not put them in because they are all in AFI's Top 100 with Citizen Kane at #1. Personally, a great movie is something you can watch over and over and its timeless. The movies these days are just so bad.

Citizen Kane is such a rare film, which almost never got made because Orsen Welles did it to spite William Randolph Hearst, who fought and fought to make sure it never got released. If you have seen the movie, Rosebud was what Hearst called his g.f's private parts.

Some Like It Hot is still funny, even after all these years.

12 Angry Men is great as well, the power of persuasion.

Lawrence of Arabia was O'Toole's finest moment

Maltese Falcon is up there, its beautifully done

then you got funny movies like Snatch (still funny) and the best part is Vinnie Jones trying to act   Sure beats biting the postman!

There will be blood should be added, its a little slow at times. Day Lewis is fine as the crazy prospector.

Hanna was great, with the Chems soundtrack and the ass kicking that she gave all the people in that movie.

I did forget the Dark Knight with the performance of the Joker and the crazy, evil. My fave part is when he is in jail and they are taking out the knives or when he finally burns all the money at the end...you a crazy motherfucker...

Mr.Smith goes to Washington was a normal man trying not to be corrupted....

I just never was a huge fan of the Godfather. I appreciated the movies but never was a diehard fan like some people, who could spout every single line in the movie.

Untwist your panties Andy, was only (attempting to) engage in witty banter!   :tease:

August Rush - Very Good Movie

The story of this movie is very inspiring and has a wonderful plot to it.

Never seen it.  Added to the list.  Thanks!   :-D

Check out Amadeus.  Oscar winning portrayal of the rather charismatic and whimsical Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  True timeless masterpiece.

There has been many many classic movies back in the 1980's.

One of my personal favorite has to be Karate Kid.

Part 1 was Excellent. Many Great Quotes: Like, Sweep The Leg or No Mercy

Part 2 was pretty good when Miyagi and Daniel went to Okaniwa, Japan.
Part 3 was decent. Not the best out of All 3 original classic.

Then U got Part 4 with the female version of Daniel: Yikes, Ouch

Finally, Will Smith kid trying to do Kung Fu and act like Daniel. WOW. Also, Jackie Chan trying to be next Miyagi, WTF. That will Never Happen. Miyagi is the MAN.

Pat Marita: Sensei :)

I like the classic shouts from the crowd at the end in Karate Kid;

"Hey Johnny you're a cream puff!" and "Put him in a bodybag...yeeeaaahh"   Classic childhood movie. Scarface is a gem too.

Some more of my faves:

A fistful of dollars (Love these 4 from Sergio Leone)
For a few dollars more
The good the bad and the ugly
Once upon a time in the west
Training Day (Denzel at his best)
Goodfellas (classic)
Blow (True story, great soundtrack, Depp is quality))
Shawshank Redemption (who doesn't love it)
Beverly Hills Cop (Changed cop films forever)
Halloween (the original and best)
King Of The Beat

Blow was a Very Good Movie.

Johnnie Depp was at his best with that Expensive Cocaine Plus The Beautiful Penelope Cruz. (Bonus)

Also, His other Quality Movie for sure was Donnie Brasco With Al Pacino. What a Great Mob Movie. :)

Penelope Cruz what a stunner and Donnie Brasco is a great shout mate. Ya know i dig pretty much all Depp's movies great actor who rarely does mediocre. Same goes for Denzel Washington.

Serpico would be another Pacino flick i love.
