IDC 2012: Winning Strategies (Better Your Scores), page 1

slash ProDanceCulture on February 5th, 2012 / post 42843
just wanted to share a few ideas on how to help DJs win our competition, or just score a prize, if that is more important. as mentioned before, there will be 3 kinds of prizes: Best Team High Score, Best Personal Score, Fans' Choice Award. lets look at them more closely:

Best Team High Score :: $150 USD
  • 75% of the score comes from Judges (and this cannot be influenced in any way, the best strategy here would be "give a 110% in your mix")..  also use your own tracks and remixes.. each of such will give 0.2% bonus on the final score.
  • 25% comes from user-ratings, and particularly from torrent ratings that can be done by users who download the torrent (and only the torrent). lowest 20% of the ratings are dropped, the rest is averaged, etc. here better results can be achieved by inviting downloaders to rate your torrent (inviting them over and over and over, cause some might need several personal invitations to go back and rate a torrent). only actual ratings from registered users count here, and one will need to have an account on tribalmixes to rate torrents. extra downloaders will benefit the Fans' Choice award too.

Best Personal Score :: $50 USD
  • all same as above, really..

Fans' Choice Award :: $75 USD
here we have more wiggling room.. this award/score is a combination of several factors (numbers), it almost entirely depends on the DJ's fan base and promotional skills. the idea is to get your IDC 2012 mix out there, present it to the widest possible audience (ie public), while using the resources provided by tribalmixes.com (*). the final score here will be a sum of the following 3 numbers:
  • Facebook Likes and Google+1's (1 point each) (**),
  • Torrent downloads - 5 points each
  • Direct Link downloads - 1 point per download (***).

what can you personally do to better this score? anything!! except cheating, but that is hard to do in this case, almost impossible.. so...

    Facebook Likes
how can one increase Facebook Likes, which are actually more than just likes?.. the Number displayed on left-top of the torrent's details page relates to the page's URL (info-link) and consists of the following:
  • The number of likes of this URL (nfo: can only be done by pressing the [facebook like] button on the info-link page of every mix)
  • The number of shares of this URL (this includes copy/pasting a link back to Facebook) (nfo: copy the URL from the browser's address bar, and share it on your Facebook page, or use the Facebook [F] button on the right side of the torrent info to Share the URL on Facebook, you can share it on your page, on your friends' pages, in groups or anywhere else).
  • The number of likes and comments on stories on Facebook about this URL (nfo: write on your page or anywhere else on Facebook, and post the URL in the article)
  • The number of inbox messages containing this URL as an attachment (nfo: simply send the link to all your friends in personal messages on Facebook, it also counts as part of 'Likes')

so the more you talk about your IDC set on facebook - the better for you, more likes you will get, etc, etc.. if you have a fan-club, send out a mass message to the fans asking them to like the URL of your mix, if you are a friend of a DJ, - share his/her DJ Mix info-link on your facebook profile, and ask all your friends and subscribers to go and like the original page..

(*) each torrent is equipped with 2 "things": 1 - main info-link (URL address of the page that contains all the info, torrent download link, direct link, tracklist, comments), and 2 - direct download link (a special link listed in torrent's description, provided by mediafire.com).

(**) Facebook Likes and Google +1's can be seen only on the Main Info-Link (torrent details page). if someone likes your facebook like of that page - such like is not included into the final number, such like will not be added to the number of likes displayed on the torrent page (that is per facebook's way of handling things).

(***) Mediafire will keep track of such downloads. please, note, they only count 1 download per IP address per 24hrs, or something like that...

if you have any questions, please, feel free to ask them here
