Little Big News (w/o front page exposure), page 2

that's the thing. you gotta start with long tail, and gradually you build reputation on those, and over time your shorter searches will be better by themselves (just for being parts of longer search strings), and later you start after the short ones. i couldn't wait, so i started going after several searches at the same time. well, it's also because tribalmixes is VERY big. google has over 1.2mln of tm pages indexed, google webmaster tool reports somewhere from 2mln to 3mln pages, and i would say it's probably 4-5mln total, cause google cannot access everything. with so many pages you can pursuit several goals at a time. so anyways, just 2 quick examples.

1. i started going after "download dj mixes" and "dj mixes" simultaneously. in about 3-4 months first one was coming up on second page of google results. shorter one was reluctant, 4th page for months.. then this and that, and blah-blah-blah, and just now i checked "dj mixes" returned on 8th position, and "download dj mixes" was 9th... for "dj mixes" it is surprising, cause it was 10-11th last week, but the other one has been on first page for a while. when i went after these 2, "google keywords" tool said "dj mixes" is searched about 400k times a month. "download dj mixes" - about 140k times. the problem is, not that i am so up there, i see it's nowhere near 400k.. it is maybe 2-3k times per month.. people search for "tribalmixes" about same amount per month... that sucks..

2. do not ever succumb to paid backlinks. NEVER. it's better to have 1 proper link than 1000 paid ones. cause paid links (those that you pay for) come from useless resources, from irrelevant sites, and google sooner or later figures it out. worst case scenario - google will ban your site from search results.. that i think has happened to one site that was bothering me for a while.. all of a sudden this djsradioshow.com shows up first in "download dj mixes" search and a bunch of others. i am pissed, all the work i do, and can't, but he got up there in no time.. well... soon i chilled, checked his backlinks, found our most of them come from "article repository sites", where people submit articles about shit, well, about anything, mostly they have to pay to publish those articles.. so i started waiting.. and what do you know... 3-4 months later, this site doesn't come up on any searches. either it's too low down maybe on 10th page or something, or it was banned by google. it doesn't even show on "djs radio show com" search... well, i checked, they didn't get banned, but still, lost first positions in everything they had.. at some point i talked to the guy, some russian fuck, he said he was investing alot into this new site he did.. idiot.. all his money was wasted... so don't buy links.

but i badly need the short search results as i know its most searched and about the local searhes, well, we are so small country so here are no realy a locals, its the capitol and the rest. sorry, this has nothing to do with the site news, post in the other one your respond if you wish ::)))

continuing the Little Big News here. and a new little big change is here...

we have fully revamped the Points System, seeking to invite more participation in site's inner mechanics by the community. Ratio-Free feature has also undergone a drastic change.

1. most important. if you want to make your torrent Ratio-Free - there's now a fee for that. you will have to spend 5000 points for any regular torrent to be promoted to ratio-free, while torrents known as mega-packs of size 900mb and larger will only require 1000 points for that.

2. points bonuses have been greatly increased for all the valuable activity that community members like you do on tribalmixes.com, to be specific:

NEW and MOST IMPORTANT!! when your regular (none-ratio-free) torrent reaches 100 downloads - you get 2000 points for that (as a bonus and a sign of our appreciation of the fact that you're bringing quality mixes here). watch out, if torrent is ratio-free at the moment of hitting 100 snatches - there will be no bonus for that!!

add new DJ List record - get 1500 points (make sure it doesn't exist first)

upload and share new torrent - 500 points

start a discussion about any DJ List record by clicking an icon on the page of any DJ, (will be redirected to forum), - get 125 points

start new topic in forums - 100 points, make a post in an existing thread - 25 points

comment on any fresh torrent (maximum 7 days old) - get 35 points

rate any torrent - 20 points + 2 FREE Lottery Tickets, rate any DJ List record - 50 points + 3

be first to fulfill reseed request and help someone download that old torrent - get 300 points

become Power User - get 300 points (can be used to enable Power Title via My Profile)

donate money - get 100 points per 1$, multiplied up to 8 times for donations of $10 and bigger

yeah, i wanted to add some djlist entry but didnt figured how. editors only?

i have also closed off unlimited downloads to people with WARNINGs. with respect to Sharing and community, everyone has to upkeep their Share-Ratio not to fall into the warning zone, because users with warnings can only download Ratio-Free torrents and WEEKLY RELEASES. this is not a new rule, it has existed since 2006. it was disabled in Fall 2011 when Public Downloads were tried out (unregistered guests could download torrents), it has been reinstated now again.

new feature:
now all torrents and releases that belong to the 3 of our latest bots SUPERSEED3, djmixes and festivals can be transferred from their account into anyone else's account, as long as there's enough points in that account. i.e. any torrent from /releases page can be yours, if you pay special fee (in points). when "owned" such torrent will be listed under your name both among torrents and releases, but the main stats will go onto the "torrents"-one from that point on.

what is it for? there isn't enough attention yet to the /releases page, and the page might take long to become very popular, so this is a temporary solution for good torrents from the releases to be re-uploaded to the main /torrents page. also you might simply wanna share this or that under your name, why not? just have enough points to do so.. =)

in torrent & releases browse there will be $$$ sign on every eligible torrent, and a special button will be in details of those eligible ones saying [sponsor/own], so it'll be easy to find those.

ps. if you want to own an old torrent from superseed3 on torrents page - it will be transferred onto /releases, under your name.
