Ideas that you think as a user will Benefit TM

I would add an option to donate by text message. Something like this ~ "help the website ... donate 1euro. text here: ... " .. I think many users will find it easy and cheap as well.. I'm just saying :)

you are right Mohammed we can't upload singles or any commercial release as it will be piracy

Thinking a little 'out of the box' why do these singles need to be copyrighted.

Upload 'Quality' creative commons licensed electronic/dance music & or Dj mixes using this Truly FREE material . .

Then we add to a music culture that no laws can take away from us because the licensee law will be on our side.

The more we use/listen/mix creative commons licensed music the less power the 'old school' copy righted institutions and their lawyers will have.

Creative commons is a licensed designed to shift that power back to the individual and public .Preventing Big business from making laws that make them more money and restrict individuals access to information/media,education etc etc etc.

IB1, it's all good when it's your tracks - whatever license you put on it, you can still do whatever with it, and of course there's a bunch of such tracks made by a bunch of open-minded (towards share-it-all-ideas) musicians or just beginners trying to score some recognition.. but... we'll simply not go into that dark forest.. someone says track is free, someone says - not free, and then artist's lawyers come and i have to pay big fines or go to court or something... better on the safe side.

ps. this is going off-topic. the topic isn't "why we can't share tracks", it's "ideas to benefit tm". =)

This is a message i sent to slash once, here it has found the light of day...

the site doesn't show that it has 36 K users.

either by the torrent activity or by its forum.
I think that a few measures should be put into place.
1. Users should at least post once on the forum, every 2 weeks for them to have accesses to the download page. (the posts should be more than smiles and thanks and shouldnt be spam.

2. (i got this idea from pretome) we might have a global ratio free tracker

which means there isnt a thing called ratio of 293.021 (my example) or 0.75 or 1.05.

it would be like this
"The only requirement you have, is to make sure you either seed each torrent you download to the best of your abilities, or to a minimum of either 60 hours or 0.75 ratio." quoted from the pretome FAQ"

Thats all what i have for now...

Yes I know slash I was building on the comment by guguca

for example, I would be very happy If here in tribalmixes we can also upload/download SINGLE SONGS, not only SETs like now we have...
How is my idea ? It is possible ?

And the reply by mohamedbasha

mohamedbasha wrote:
i dont think its possible, because that would be piracy, no one payed for them.

And answering that the way forward would be creative commons music

Agreed their is always a risk involved in trying out new things.I wasn't suggesting Tribalmixes be the first port of call for these creative commons licensed tracks.Acquire them from sites that specialize in public domain music like www.jamendo.com.The responsibility to check & be accountable for copyright infringements should end with them .And as far as I'm aware to date their not having major issues by artist's lawyers .

Anyway no problem, it was  merely a suggestion that would add a little more variation to our musical mix :-).admins are the ones whom will have to do the ground work so it's your call.

I'm happy  with Tribalmixes music & my only wish is for it to continue .

a few thoughts

1. When downloading a torrent, in the torrent there should be a passkey to the user, that it would be easier for people to download and upload from any ip.

2. We might have an IRC, it can be used as shoutbox, and have different things on it, maybe a few games some chat rooms etc.

with the IRC users can gain extra credits.

3. the possibility for users to transfer points from one user to the other.

4. reseed requests might become expensive, for every request the users pay maybe 10-500 points and the reseeder than takes the money paid (credits), and slash takes a percentage because he was the middle man through the site.

5. the ability for users to say thanks to each other, so for example i help someone new on the site he can thank me with a button, we can have a the top 10 thanked users.

6. Our ranking system: User, Power User, Uploader Mod,admin sysop. and VIP plt.
we might make it a bit more spicy
where user might be the weak user, the he would be promoted to user then heavy weight user.

Power users should be eliminated and and they would become residents.
other people will have more ideas so the ranking might system might be better.

thats what i can think if for now

something that would be great also is adding

the ability where the search can also search the tracklists.

maybe uploader have box where the add tracklists and that place is where the search just looks for those tracks.

so i for example am looking for a song called "feels like home"

so i go to the search pane and enter my keyword, the engine then looks for the either the same letters or close etc

and so it doesnt have to look far it just reads what is identified in the tracklist box.

this tracklist box is accessed by the uploader in the uploading page.

i hope my idea is understood

the ability to search for a track would be great! it would help the users seeking sets with their favorite tracks + sets containing popular tracks would have more downloads. of course it would add a little work to uploaders writing down tracklists, but anyway, i personally like sets with tracklist better, as a dj if i hear a track i trully like it would make it way easier to find out what it is

Make a poll to make TM free from registration!
Some time ago i voted TM to be with registration but now i think its time to make it free of that.
Because users now can share the torrent in Facebook and i realy think that the seeders amount on TM vont shrink and that there will be more users :)
yoooooooooooy

I would like to select some key words that could be linked to the torrent title, uploader etc .so that I would be notified when a torrent is uploaded that features a Dj,club, uploader, event, radio show etc that I may be interested in .For this to work correctly uploader would have to enter some key words that accurately described the torrent and it's quality .

Even the track list could be linked to key words so a TM user would be notified as soon as a torrent mix was uploaded that featured a Artist they liked .

I think a feature that sends you a message to your TM message box and or E-mail that such a torrent has been uploaded would be very helpful .

It would be a Good way of finding your favourite music and keeping a record of what you like the best.

It would make the Tribalmixes experience more user friendly and add a touch of user control .

more power to the user !  people! ;-)

well, this is the problem... as it is, people come to the site to find their favorite music, so very very few really check out the forums, and even less than that will stumble upon this thread.. a very, very, very good and useful idea would be the one concerning this issue: how to make people check out the forums more frequent. it's understandable, of course, noone wants to read stuff if they don't need to or not in the mood, or whatever.... partial stats here: while the army of peer (or rather torrent clients) produced about 160 million hits in april, here's what we have:

03 /shoutbox.php 5,649,674
06 /details.php 242,063
10 /forums.php 43,686

shoutbox is the favorite time spending on tm. how could i think of removing it some time ago... details are displayed less than torrents browse pages because browse is enough to get the .torrent files, but still people are interested in what's inside, which is warming up my soul. idon't need to worry you with all the exact numbers, but forums are browsed 6 times less than torrent details, and 100 times less than shoutbox.. so that could be refreshing...

returning to IB1's request, i can say the following - the work is in progress on such a thing, it's called 'extended rss feeds', will cost you points, as MB noticed, but then they'll be fully and completely customizable as much as the new search engine on the site. you will simply be able to do any search in torrents page, and then sign up to an RSS thread for that search. and how you tweak that search is your own decision. although now it's not available, i will do this "search only in details" option, so that to look through track-lists only, in case you wanted sets with some dj/producer's tracks (that's possible only when people put tracklists in torrents' details, btw), but didn't want the sets played by that dj (hence, needed to avoid the "search in torrent names" part of the whole shebang). i hope i've explained this clear enough. and yeah, this is a half-ass way of fulfilling your request/idea, but it will provide you with a wider range of notification tools, because there're lots of RSS clients, even torrent clients have RSS readers, using which will save you a step of "getting email alert and going to site through the provided link to click the torrent file to download it" and make it a straight forward "get file if it satisfies the criteria, thus auto-starting the download", and having utorrent-remote coming out with next big release of utorrent (ver.3.0), for example, will even allow you to screen the rss feed on your mobile device before eben allowing your home computer's client to start the download.. well, lots of technicalities, but in general it's this: just let the rss feeds come in at some point. i was finishing them in august, when starcraft 2 came out... ghm.. sorry, friends... =)
