what is a good track and a popular track?

what is the difference between a good track as in genius track, extraordinary, fantastic, but not (yet?) popular track, and the one that is already pre-made to quickly become and be popular? i guess i'm asking everyone here, including just friends and good observers and good believers, and maybe some djs or just informatively prepared members of the community? let's get into it!!
haha, im asking that since ages the difference can be anything.. the idea.. the sounds.. the production of it.. the commersialism in it.. even one single bassline can make the track huge.. its just something that makes it original and not like all other trax that come every day on beatport and other digital shops..
This is a sticky question because, 'good', 'bad', 'popular', 'genius' and so on are subjective and not objective things. I read once a newspaper article about this topic where it was said there are criteria which are countable for popular music and that there exist computer programs based on statistics which can tell what will be popular !
Nevertheless I believe to write a damn good track you have to be good in understanding and composing music. You have to be aware of your instruments, the rhythm, the sounds etc.. Sometimes it's just to be the first of a genre. I can tell for myself how a song must be that I fall into love with it but can't answer the question where the difference between good and bad is. But I would make a differentiation between people who are lost in music and those people who are not ! Generally music is like a language and if you're into this language you're better than those who are not as good in speaking.
And I must say that Enen is right to speak of production. Sometimes I just love the sound/recording of a song. The mastering and so on. I think this is important too for becoming genius today For example I like always BT's sound (Brian Transeau). He has huge power and warmth in it

sup.1!!
Especially in House music the baseline is most important. Just look at David Guetta, Bob Sinclar or Benny Benassi, they all use the same scheme again and again. But well it works. ^^
