Sad News... for tribalmixes..., page 1

slash ProDanceCulture on May 18th, 2016 / post 69527
i must admit after 11 years online tribalmixes situation is not looking good.. google banned/demoted tribalmixes in search results. google searches like "utorrent connectable" or "dj mixes torrents" and most "dj name torrents" used to produce tribalmixes.com as first result, now give barely 9-10th. and most - second page. which means somehow google stopped liking tribalmixes. maybe for the millions of dmca reports, i don't know. i do know this same shit happened to my other 2 sites and they are now gone.. maybe in case of tribalmixes it's the mobile-none-friendliness what is causing the demotion, but those other sites were mobile super friendly.. so i really do not know.. anyways, now tribalmixes is only used by a few hundred of dedicated users. maybe a few thousand, if taken as over-the-month span..

i can tell you guys this... it's been 11 years for me. if not every day, than 6 days out of 7, i would spend time on the site, share music, etc, etc... before i found my wife - i'd spend countless hours on the site, building new features, improving, or at least meaning to improve, anyways, i was really invested, and those were golden years for tribalmixes (khe, khe, no, not because of me, though LOL), several thousand registered people were using the site daily, people valued the site, cause it was one of the very few.. very few.. now sites like tribalmixes  come and go, some make it, most - don't.. anyways... this is tangent-ing out of the right direction.. i was just saying, i don't know what i'll do without tribalmixes, really..

so i will keep tribalmixes going, even maybe for the few hundred fans that visit and love the site.. i will also be heavily basing this decision (to keep up) on quarterly donations, when the required donated %% shows up on top, if users want it and donate enough for the next quarter and next, - this will tell me to keep going, and i will.

and maybe i will work on some new concept i've had on how to make tribalmixes hip again..

in the meantime - thanks for coming..

Wait, this is a mistake.

That's a link towards the webmaster-support from Google.

There is a search console on the page that I linked. With it either you or we can find out why tribalmixes.com is not listed #1. I'm registered with the same eMail I got on this site, if you want me to help you, you need to add me as a user. You need to register tribalmixes.com as your property first. I'm sure you're more capable at finding that out but I'd try. My own way would be to directly write to Google and ask them how it is possible that the #1 webpage for electronic music doesn't list as #1, "this would be absolutely not ok, the site would be a gem in the internet and that they'd need to help us to make it the #1 search result again, the site would be absolutely unique, there'd be no other site offering the same amount of electronic music legitimately and for free" .

I'm sorry, but this really may not happen, Google needs to give answers how we get tribalmixes.com to be the #1 search result again.

i thought i was efficient with SEO, but google said - i wasn't.. as i mentioned, i've had hundreds of DMCA reports filed with google over the years. especially lately... here label or dj contacts some agency with a list of 'bad sites', where tribalmixes.com is present. they receive the name of the track that needs to be "protected" and its illegal instances - removed from the easy access. so the only way they can do something is do a search in google for that track and then file a dmca report with google to remove all the search results produced in that search, or at least first 10 pages of it, IF sites are in the list of bad sites. and so such great djs as nicole moudaber, franky rizardo, dave seaman, armin van buuren, and many many others, shows like essential mix and selection, transitions, radios like frisky, proton, and many other entities and institutions, anyways, all of them cause lots of trouble to tribalmixes.. why all this? cause tribalmixes is not a legitimate way to obtain music... or as most big and successful djs would perceive it, probably.

but i still think it's mobile none-friendly which is the reason for SERP demotion..

and btw, you cant just contact google and ask them "why" and such... positions in search results are defined by hundreds of parameters, and cannot be fathomed by customer service... =)

1. Check the torrents that got published or whatever happened on the webpage before that steep fall comes, the one where the site drops from about 900 users towards its current status.

2. Write to Google that the DMCA-reports would be false positives, there'd be no law on radio-recordings, tribalmixes wouldn't offer illegal CD-recordings of the tracks, only the names  would be the same sometimes which is why the site would get reported.

This is not ment mean or anything, but if you know what causes the DMCA reports there's also the way of simply eliminating what causes them and then ask Google kindly to take back the demotion or worst case rename the page / give it a new url. I suspect that some feature like maybe i. e. the feature that lists the filenames of the torrents could cause the site to get detected and reported falsely positive for offering a single track, i. e. in my James Holden collection there was some discussion because in one live-recording the person that recorded it cut the recording into seperate files and all named them, so those files (while not CD-versions) get reported like it were single-tracks to Google maybe.

https://www.duckduckgo.com btw. lists tribalmixes.com in the top search-result when searching for "electronic music torrents" and "live" . When searching without live all the illegal standard torrent-sites get listed like Pirate-Bay etc. and it are simply too many for tribalmixes to show up. When searching for "electronic music live mixes" Tribalmixes again gets listed quite above, 6th or 7th only though. I suspect that Mixcloud is listed before tribalmixes because it offers the possibility to listen towards the music and mixing.dj offers direct downloads afaik. Maybe there's also something missing in the description of that site, you once mentioned to me that a site-owner somehow describes its site by search terms, maybe words like "download" or "listen to" are missing  :hmmm: .
The last doesn't solve the case with Google, but if already working on the site and with Duck being a popular search engine maybe there is something to be improved aswell by finding out why mixcloud and mixing.dj always get listed so far at the top.

I'm sorry for this question, but is the term "electronic" in the description of the site?  :geek:

[EDIT]

And what I also see is that "live" should be an extra term and not be put together like "liveset" because many people will search only for "live" because very many sets are named "live @" etc. so if i. e. searching for "electronic + live" tribalmixes would maybe not even get listed...  :hmmm:

[EDIT2]

And again something, duck lists the page with "download" only being in the description of the site but not in "the name" (I think this is called "header" , maybe you know what I mean) .

The sites list as:

Name X
description

Tribalmixes currently lists as:

DJ Mixes, Livesets, Club Mixes, Track-Lists | TribalMixes
DJ Mixes - Download & Upload, Club Mixes, LiveSets, Promos, Radio shows, Mixtapes, etc. Find Track-lists and info on DJs, Clubs, Parties.

Tribalmixes should be something like

Name = "Download Electronic Livesets & DJ mixes, the (i. e. "best", "biggest", "most popular") torrent site | Tribalmixes
tribalmixes.com download electronic live music, (list of most popular styles and keywords like "techno" , "house" etc. )

I worked on the last so to make it understandable, "live" should be existing as the term "liveset" and "live" and the term "electronic" should definitely be in the description and "download" and maybe also "torrent" are the most important imo. "mixes" is also important and many people seem to search for terms like "best, most popular or biggest" so that's why it should be in the description, I'd choose "best" as the term. People may also search for specific generes, therefore the electronic-music-styles that the site offers need to be found by the search-engine somehow.

I hope this helps you and / or tribalmixes.

This sounds like not the plan you had Slash for tribalmixes, however as I have said before I think this site always has been and will be niche for underground music...you only have to look at some of the sites listed... https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=dj+nick+warren+torrent which will always come and go in my opinion...

I for one haven't changed my habits and never will... streaming sites don't offer the same scope as having the file(s) when you want it...wherever on your phone, pc, tv, nas whereever to listen...the likes of soundcloud  and co (excl mixcloud which I upload to for my own needs)which are shit in my view now that its changed it rules and business model will suck away torrent users... thats invetible...however TM should focus on the quality and not quantity ( I said that...don't remember when ages ago     ) with the likes of tm-radio behind it...however shithouse stream sites have that sort of calibre on tap...

Anyway enough from me...more donations from me to keep TM going ~  years to come!!

We/they maybe only a few slash, however we do shout very loudly when the times comes, hopefully f***king soon my 1Gb U/D FTTP will be coming online as well so I can get back to uploading more great music!! :thankyou:

i know other search engines have tribalmixes in proper place.. but not google. and the problem here is that google gets 95% of searches, so other sites don't really matter.. sorry, if i offend someone..

also, i still think it is not the matter of dmca reports, but rather the matter of mobile none-friendliness... i am planning something on this... so maybe later we'll see difference..

ps. thanks for support

@Seraiel: as i said, there is no customer service for google search... or afaik..
munkynstar Moderator on May 21st, 2016 / post 69545
no offence mate...as I have said I never get hung up on stats...however I think making TM more niche... (enforcing upload ratio, back to invite system)  you would create desired content from all the shit kickers who hit and run... into emersing themselves back to the site for the greater good..

the vast majority of the sites I saw on the first page aside from the dj social media/personal sites  I imagine won't be there for any reasonable length of time...irrespective of any dmca bollox TM is here to stay, SEO or no SEO!
