Seeding question, page 1

I have followed the guide to open ports and allow uTorrent in my software firewall (my ratio is pretty much ruined).  I'm trying to get my ratio back up but I notice whenever I try to seed a torrent from the free downloads page it only uploads very slowly (2kb/s) and then once it's done downloading all seeding stops completely.  Does this make sense to anyone?

the 2kbs is what you upload to tracker and peers to coordinate/report your download, i think.

if you want to upload you need a place to upload the data to,like other users who still need to download.
if no1 is downloading you can't upload.

have patience and start seeding the other torrents you downloaded as well.

I guess the problem is simply that years ago I used to leave my PC on 24/7 and now I don't.

no, the problem is that when you stopped leaving your pc on, you didn't pick up on the point system and didn't do simple arithmetics to keep your ratio in check.  :-/

because of that you are now limited to /resleases which is not downloaded from often, which means you can't upload often.

what you describe in the OP makes perfect sense to me :-D

I've got the same problem here.. forwarded Ports, even disabled Kaspersky (tests are a pass tho with kas active). yet i can't upload at all. every connections gets lost immediatly. i followed every single guide here.. but it's not working at all, tried different torroents from other sites too.. same problem. i just don't know what to do anymore.. sry for not being able to seed at all

sounds like the problem is in the settings of your torrent client. if you are using utorrent, check out both the bandwith and queing categories in the preference tab.

whatever client you are using, you'll probably get better help at the clients official page.

... that said, some isp's block p2p traffic, so choosing to listen to a random port in the connection tab might work, don't forget to forward this new port.
