First, let me state clearly that this is a nice site with good material. However, demoting people from power user to user because they have under "A set Amount" of post is ridiculous.  User status should be determined by one thing, and one thing only, ratio/upload/download. While I understand the need to facilitate conversation among users in the form of post and comments, they should be genuine (User initiated) essentially what your are doing is forcing people to be disingenuous to keep there respective classes.

I am sure someone will come along and flame me for my comment. However, this is how I feel and is no way intended to offend.

another 9 of these true-feelings-comments, and you're good to go, no?

let me even help you continue, maybe, conversing here, and ask you: why do you think that you're entitled to say "User status should be determined by one thing, and one thing only,...", and, on the other hand, me, sysop, creator, etc, am i NOT entitled to my say (which i also drop upon others, but this perk comes with the position)? why is it ridiculous to have me say "no, user status on my site will be determined by set numbers of posts and comments, on top of up/down stats"?

please, pardon my phrasing, but it is hard to put this question without sounding like an asshole, so i hope you do not suffer yet a bit more because of this post of mine... and again, i am sorry for trumping you here with "this is mine" card.

It's another site. The points for seeding come much quicker because it's overrun (IMO) with seedboxes, making it pretty hard to get decent upload credit unless you jump on a new file within 5 minutes of it being published.

Member use gifting as rewards for finding or reseeding rare or obscure content, and the mods run a lot (one every two weeks or so) of contests with points as the prize. The member-base is probably 10 times the size of TM, so there's that too.

But recognition is due - this was the first site that I've joined that used points and rewards.

People fear change. This is a good site and a decent community, and I understand your desire to improve it. I'm really hoping you don't pull a Deviloid because of the reactions of the user base.

(only 5 more to go; and look at that, you've engaged me into the forums and I don't have to spam it out; nice job)

see, now you got it... most people will say fuck it and ignore the loss of status, since it won't affect downloads, as long as the ratio is good. some people will begrudge and try to spam it out somehow.. quite a bunch of users will actually find out for the first time that we have forums. and select few, maybe half a dozen, will actually like it and get pulled in. if after all is settled, we have 5 more active forum users, well, i will call it a victory.

Your wording does not offend me the in the slightest. Furthermore, your bold declaration that this is "Your Site" and "You will make the rules" is again your prerogative. I merely stated the obvious from my perspective. It's your site so as you put it, do what you wish, since it's your "Perk" as you state clearly. Therefore, if a forum full of random and insincere comments is what your shooting for well guess what: that's what's coming.

I will personally post when I feel the need arise. The drop in user rank is not the issue. It's the method in which you are choosing to ram forum post and comments down people throats, in order to keep there respective ranks, that is the bone of my contention. In any case, once again, my comments are meant as a line of communication and in no way are meant as a personal attack.

You don't have a warning, just need a few posts... Yes, those totals update just a few times a day. Cache... But when time comes - only the proper updated values will be considered' don't worry

wondered that myself for a bit there, but all is good :)

I discovered this link which has a button to "update counters" instead of having to wait until the next time the cache is reset:

yes, of course, you're not offended.

it is up to you to keep the rank or to let it go.

i just wanted you to know there's forum. good to communicate to others like you. and that we also like to read comments on the uploads.

to put it simple: i just wanted to be friends with you. you don't wanna. well ok, then, do as you wish...

ps. these decisions were discussed and mutually agreed upon by several tribalmixes key figures. i take the blame solely thou, cause it's easier this way.

The new rules will make this site more quality oriented and not quantity oriented.
TonyTstarlightning EDIT ME!!!! on March 27th, 2014 / post 62793
I can understand how you would want more posting to have a better community feel but if people feel forced to post just to keep their status it can lead to spam posts or treads that really have nothing to contribute like counting threads and such.  On some forums I help run we cringe at that type of content and posting.

I personally am not too concerned with losing a power user status. I do not have content to upload so I leave stuff seeding for at least a month or sometimes more.  I come here since it has been the better site for the music I listen to as the DJ sets are great.  Would be nice if the share ratio rules were a little more lax but I manage to keep mine proper so not a huge deal.

All in all this site is one I go to every day and check what is new and grab maybe two sets while I am here.  On any forums I belong to I do not post much so unfortunately the having to post will keep my power user status down but such is life.  Not a huge deal.  This site still has good content and it is generally easy to find.

One question I do have is that if you donate as a VIP or whatever the top tier is do all the rules still affect you?

The method might not be a great one, but it came after several trials were aimed at increasing the level of participation. If people would like to spam, it think it is ok, as long as it is in a topic that was created towards that regard. But on the other hand if i just show up and say nonsense well it would be a dick move from the user and up the moderators to decide how to penalize the user.

Changing the rules created some user activity, maybe that would generate more??

It would be also a great addition if start topics as well, if you would like, rather than posting when there is a need for a post. Maybe your post could start an active topic. Or it might not which in that case would be annoying but its ok know deep down you are still loved ;P :D

no, it's not a good question.. please, guys, look in the F.A.Q. sometimes. user classes.

but the only way to get permanent VIP for donation is Platinum Status, given for one time $100 or accumulated $200.

right? and here on tribalmixes in the forum, we are so happy when someone comes and makes a post because they want to, we all come and greet, and probably even scare the person away with that, like we some chat-hungry monsters.. here's an example: https://www.tribalmixes.com/forums.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=8650

but i am thinking on, possibly, having power users "purchase" the status back for points. or maybe having certain amount of points could negate the need for posts.. we'll see..  :ninja:
