I figured why not relive my clubbing days. So anyone that saw Sander K around this time period Chime in.

The guvernment club in Toronto is really a complex of about 8-9 clubs in one massive club. It is down at the foot of Queen Quey. Which means it is the last street before the lake Ontario. The Guv has become shittier and shittier over the years. Last time I went was 2004 because smaller clubs had longer sets, better vibe. Anyway next door to it was the warehouse (it was really a warehouse) then renamed Koolhaus. It was ticketed events, which meant less riff raff and less overcrowding. It is really used as a standup concert venue these days for lesser known bands.

Anyway back in 2001, Sander K was gaining vibes because he released Nubreed 4 in April 2001 and then his amazing and legendary June 9th (North America) or 10th (Europe) Essential Mix.

So it was 15 dollars to see some idiot as the opener (forget his name!) then Sander Kleinenberg then Max Graham. I just remember there was like so much space to dance because there was a limited tickets. So Sander K goes on at 2AM (was it 1?) and he played dark dark progressive house for about 40 minutes then started to hit a gear. I did remember he smoked and smoked and smoked (3 packs - 3 hours) was it. My mate was at the front counting like a tard. Plus Sander K sweats like a retard and I do not remember it being that hot. I remember the A/C being in full blast. He dropped the Cock Sonnet and the ladies went mental. He was playing Yebo by Art of Noise, which sounds amazing on a big system. He then brought in with the vocal playing then gently brought in the track, which  I could not place at the time. I knew it was an oakenfold fave from 1999 but he had pitched it up. It turns out, it was the legendary Highland - No Way Out.

Max Graham shows up next and for the first track, he was scratching and playing with the levels. I realized later that Max made Hip Hop Mixes in the 90's to pay the bills. I ended up doing about 45 mins of Graham, then it was home to bed.

I did happen to run into Sander Kleinenberg on my way out. He looked like he had been swimming and just stunk of cigarettes (you could smoke in Toronto Clubs in those days before the laws changed).

What times.
