Question :: What is it all about? How do I get the music?
how come :: www.tribalmixes.com is all about sharing live dj mixes and radio shows of club-dance music. it is only the members of this community who builds it (community) up, every day brings newest freshest music and always on the lookout for the best of the best of club scene. the mechanic of this filesharing is also based on users of the website, as it is "torrents" that are used to spread the music across the globe, and while downloading a torrent your program will keep uploading to others, which is called "sharing".
answer :: if you are brand new to this kind of stuff, check out website 'links' page to read the complete f.a.q. about torrents. otherwise all you should already know is : website is also called a tracker (tracks info/stats on all torrents), it provides ".torrent-files" (but not the music mp3-s!!!) that you can download and open in your "bittorrent-client" software program (utorrent, azureus, bitcomet). you can only get music if you have this bittorrent client. without the website there will be no downloading or sharing, as it direct any activities and must exist in orded the community could exist with it.
Question :: What do I need to worry about when downloading the music?
Answer :: whenever you download something, you must "give it back" to the community by letting others download same stuff from you. this is the main principle peer2peer filesharing works, this is the way the website community lives. "giving it back" means you have to keep torrents open and seeding for other users. it is easy to do, just do not remove them from the client and set up its options to keep seeding indefinitely or till seeding ratio is over 1.00 (100%). this ratio thing is the only issue you should consider around here, it equals your total uploads divided by total downloads, so if you give back same amount of data you take, then your ratio will be around 1.00 and no problems will ever bother you, but if you don't let others download torrent's data from your client, then your ratio drops and at some point your downloading privilidges will be stopped and you will not be able to download any more.

Answer :: Yes, it is perfectly safe!! if you are concerned about safety of this stuff, please don't! torrents and clients are 100% safe virus-hacker-wise, if someone is downloading from you, he/she cannot have any access to your computer as it is. more to that, many newest versions of clients have this feature DHT (decentralized hash tables), which allows them clients to exchange sources for torrents, even that can be disabled in options to make sure only members of this very community can download from you.

maybe someone would be interested in adding up to this glossary... i noticed some people don't even know what does it mean to 'upload' or 'share' or whatever... so if you feel some terms can be explained here in short words, feel free to post!! please use the format like this with bb-tags {b} and {size=2}...
.torrent file - rather small (10-30KB) file that carries technical info about the data shared as Torrent. Note that .torrent files (data description files) are often mistaken for Torrents in general meaning (the data itself, including mp3s, and whatever else, usually large files or folders with files, size measured in MBs).
0-day music - it is called 0-day music or 0-day release, if a fresh show or liveset is uploaded and shared on the very same day of the release/air/event itself, so if feels like you have been there on the party...
ABC, Azureus - types of "bittorrent client"
active torrent - torrent with 1 or more registered seeds
announce url - url address used by bittorrent clients to communicate with a tracker
bandwidth - speed of some internet connection, rather its capacity
bitrate - bps, bits per second, the bigger the number (128kbps, 192kbps...) the better the quality of sound, but the bigger the file-size gets.
BitTorrent - type of uploading/downloading protocol structure when your bittorrent client downloads data from other users' clients and uploads it back to them, so exchange is done very fast and downloading speeds are maximized. napster -> kazaa -> edonkey -> bittorrent. so it is the most advanced p2p protocol. tracker is the backbone of every private/open bitTorrent community and technically tracker's Torrents activity will sooner or later die without a tracker.
BitTornado, BitComet, BitLord, Burst - same as "bittorrent client"
bittorrent client - a software program that allows you to share Torrents online. it opens .torrent files, downloads Torrent data (actual mp3/oth files), at the same time it uploads downloaded data to other clients involved in current proccess of sharing this Torrent. if Torrents are not removed from bittorrent client after downloads completes, program continues to upload (seed) torrents, thus improving your ratio. you cannot download Torrents without bittorrent client of some kind.
breaks - genre of electronic/dance music
broadcast - publicly radio-transmitted live (or not) recording of some dj session. a.k.a. radio broadcast, club-night broadcast, webcast.
categories - website categorization of Torrents (by music styles/data type)
comments - very important part of everyday life of tribalmixesdotcom, totally depending on the users in this community: your feedback on Torrents that you should and are able to add to each of your downloads. this really cheers uploader up and helps them stay focused on what's liked or not at the moment. one of the good tone rules.
connectable - regarding a peer (most of the time) states that this peer accepts incoming connections on some specified port. such (_good) peer will have fastest communication with all other peers and new peers, thus providing fastest up/download speeds. regarding a user (rarely) could be used for a person whose ports are not properly forwarded making all peers not connectable (_poor). if you have peers of both types, simply stop/start not connectable peers to see their status change to connectable on tracker, might need to repeat 2-3 times if no effect.
connectability - quality of peers, connectable or not, is determined by tracker at the time bittorrent client registers peers at the tracker for the first time (when you open .torrent file and click start/force in your client). tracker attempts to connect to the peer, and if successes marks peer as connectable, otherwise at not connectable. this judgement might sometimes be wrong, especially at the moments of high load with over 50-100 peers updating or registering at the same time, so try to stop/start Torrents in your bittorrent client to see if peers change their status.
damn leecher - very bad version of "leecher", cursing, bad language officially allowed for use towards users who downloads/leeches, but never uploads back. such users lose their downloading rights very fast, then try to register more accounts that leads to fast loss of access to the tracker.
dead torrent - Torrent with no seeds
dedicated server - a special server somewhere out there that is rented for tribalmixesdotcom and only. since tracker always needs to communicate with peers, it causes high load on computer that it is physically located at, so we needed to switch to a dedicated server 4 months after website was born.. read more
delay - same as "wait time delay"
djmix, djset, djliveset - whatever you call it, this is what brings thousands of people here: live dj perfomances recorded in clubs or sessions broadcasted on the radio and then recorded, which is afterwards (or along the way, depending on what software/teknik ripper is using) processed into mp3s and shared with others (or kept for private use).
d'n'b, drum and bass - genre of electronic/dance music

hash check - special algorythm performed in order to check if transmitted Torrent data is complete or corrupted, all bittorrent clients are able to perform this procedure along the way with downloading new torrents, to insure the proper data is being received and stored
history - info on all the torrents that have been here on tribalmixes.com, but never became undead thus were deleted after 3-4 months online. please consult if you want to upload something for if this torrent has been here already!
hit-and-run - this happens when you remove Torrent from your bittorrent client upon completion, with no reported data uploaded on this given Torrent or torrent ratio reporting below 0.100. it is really bad and prosecuted behavior. if you receive a message about hit-and-run awarded to you, beware, because 3 more hit-and-runs will give you a warning for 1 week, 3 more careless actions (total of 7) and you are banned from the website. if your bittorrent client has seeding rules active, make sure the rules for new torrents like must stay active for first 24hr or seed until 100% or more, look into that to protect from client stopping torrents not well seeded and run client active 24/7, bittorrent clients as uTorrent do not take any resources.
house - genre of electronic/dance music
infohash - same as "hash"
jungle - genre of electronic/dance music
leech, to leech - same as downloading, but it is rather used to describe a peer.
leecher - usually in bad sense for a user who only leeches but doesn't want to upload, thus making a bad sharer, bad ratio, warning...
legal - nothing on tribalmixesdotcom is illegal, commercial or prohibited by law, it is for promotional use and much lower quality than real cds and albums. we support djs, we do not steal their music! most of promos are approved by their producers!

liveset, live session - dame as "djmix"
low ratio - ratio reporting "low" when you click your ratio link on control panel above. involves warning and revoked downloading privilidges.
minimum ratio - must be kept to be able to keep downloading. please note that the more you download, the bigger your ratio should be, starting from just 0.100 on 1GB, it should be 0.75 when you reach 100GB downloads, resulting in 75GB or more of uploaded data. see more in ratio ladder.
minimal (house) - genre of electronic/dance music
mistake - is usually an action (torrent upload) resulting in removal of your torrent by someone of staff. 1 such mistake will revoke power user's automatic uploading permission.
MainLine - type of "bittorrent client"
not connectable - regarding a peer (most of the time) states that this peer does not accept incoming connections due to some firewall/router/port wrong configuration. connectability is determined by the website at the time your bittorrent client first time registers new download/seed (new peer), tracker tries to connect to your client at the port you have specified in its options. not connectable peers will still seed or leech, but only in case they connect to other connectable peers, although many other not connectable peers for this torrent will not be able to communicate with your client, thus you are having lower download and upload speed, less data uploaded, worse ratio than connectable users. not connectable user will state that this user has most peers not connectable. also note, that if some of your peers report connectable (_good) than it is quite possible to make all other peers of yours also connectable by stopping/starting them in your client. alot of info on becoming connectable is written in forums on this website and other forums all over the internet.
offer - generally out of wide use, implies a forum topic in special section offering something not uploaded on tribalmixes, mostly relating to fresh djs, featured or member dj mixes.
online radio - a type of radio where music is being streamed in the internet, and users listen to it by the means of mostly any music players, such as winamp, wmp or similar.

peer - an entity in the world of p2p sharing, usually meaning one of your torrents (or any other software's named/described means for file sharing) being managed 'in the net' by your sharing software client, so each person can run a few open peers, going to thousands in rare cases, peers are what the driving force of the global peer to peer sharing world community.

good ratio - goor ratio to have would be 1.00 and over, meaning you download as much data as you upload to others, that is very fair and the only fair way, one of the good tone rules.
hash - some long string used in hash check, it is stored in .torrent file along with other technical info
hash check - special algorythm performed in order to check if transmitted Torrent data is complete or corrupted, all bittorrent clients are able to perform this procedure along the way with downloading new torrents, to insure the proper data is being received and stored
history - info on all the torrents that have been here on tribalmixes.com, but never became undead thus were deleted after 3-4 months online. please consult if you want to upload something for if this torrent has been here already!
hit-and-run - this happens when you remove Torrent from your bittorrent client upon completion, with no reported data uploaded on this given Torrent or torrent ratio reporting below 0.100. it is really bad and prosecuted behavior. if you receive a message about hit-and-run awarded to you, beware, because 3 more hit-and-runs will give you a warning for 1 week, 3 more careless actions (total of 7) and you are banned from the website. if your bittorrent client has seeding rules active, make sure the rules for new torrents like must stay active for first 24hr or seed until 100% or more, look into that to protect from client stopping torrents not well seeded and run client active 24/7, bittorrent clients as uTorrent do not take any resources.
house - genre of electronic/dance music
infohash - same as "hash"
jungle - genre of electronic/dance music
leech, to leech - same as downloading, but it is rather used to describe a peer.
leecher - usually in bad sense for a user who only leeches but doesn't want to upload, thus making a bad sharer, bad ratio, warning...
legal - nothing on tribalmixesdotcom is illegal, commercial or prohibited by law, it is for promotional use and much lower quality than real cds and albums. we support djs, we do not steal their music! most of promos are approved by their producers!
links - page leading to various recommended links and rss feeds.
liveset, live session - dame as "djmix"
low ratio - ratio reporting "low" when you click your ratio link on control panel above. involves warning and revoked downloading privilidges.
minimum ratio - must be kept to be able to keep downloading. please note that the more you download, the bigger your ratio should be, starting from just 0.100 on 1GB, it should be 0.75 when you reach 100GB downloads, resulting in 75GB or more of uploaded data. see more in ratio ladder.
minimal (house) - genre of electronic/dance music
mistake - is usually an action (torrent upload) resulting in removal of your torrent by someone of staff. 1 such mistake will revoke power user's automatic uploading permission.
MainLine - type of "bittorrent client"
not connectable - regarding a peer (most of the time) states that this peer does not accept incoming connections due to some firewall/router/port wrong configuration. connectability is determined by the website at the time your bittorrent client first time registers new download/seed (new peer), tracker tries to connect to your client at the port you have specified in its options. not connectable peers will still seed or leech, but only in case they connect to other connectable peers, although many other not connectable peers for this torrent will not be able to communicate with your client, thus you are having lower download and upload speed, less data uploaded, worse ratio than connectable users. not connectable user will state that this user has most peers not connectable. also note, that if some of your peers report connectable (_good) than it is quite possible to make all other peers of yours also connectable by stopping/starting them in your client. alot of info on becoming connectable is written in forums on this website and other forums all over the internet.
offer - generally out of wide use, implies a forum topic in special section offering something not uploaded on tribalmixes, mostly relating to fresh djs, featured or member dj mixes.
online radio - a type of radio where music is being streamed in the internet, and users listen to it by the means of mostly any music players, such as winamp, wmp or similar.
OUTLOOK - same as "your website preferences", a section of the website where users can set up alot of appearance options, move or close some windows, set the amounts of displayed result records and personalize their own image by adding their age, location etc.
peer - an entity in the world of p2p sharing, usually meaning one of your torrents (or any other software's named/described means for file sharing) being managed 'in the net' by your sharing software client, so each person can run a few open peers, going to thousands in rare cases, peers are what the driving force of the global peer to peer sharing world community.

right above the categories, there is a torrent searchbar, u can enter the name of the dj there as all the torrents have the name of the artist so...

here i will help with something all beginers need.... you all know that you have a limit of ratio to dload with and this is written under yor name in the up of the page and this ratio decreases when you dload torrents so there are torrents called ever life torrents (undead torrents) this torrents are for free they dont decrease your ratio this torrents you will find beside them a yellow box on the torrent page so after you dload them if you want to take your ratio back you will find 9 yellow small boxes on the top of the page under your name and ratio click on the secound one from the RIGHT after you click on this box u will find a word called "DOWNLOAD DEBIT" and here you go you will gain your ratio back.... i hope u understod and i will post some pictures to let you understand better

Hey, I'm a new user and this seems like a great site!!
I was just wondering if it is possible to download torrents that are in the history section ?
Had a look around and there doesn't seem to any mention of how to do this or if its possible or just a reference tool. There is a mention of snatching but I don't really know what this means.
Any help would be appreciated

unfourtneley u cant dload torrents in history... but u can request torrents thier is a section for it in the formus and for sure some one will upload it

everyone is welcome and stroungly encouraged to ask anything they have ever thought about someway related to www.tribalmixes.com rules, rights, torrents and the comminity being!!!
also this is a call to all the experienced users to take a big part in this project, especially staff members, answer questions, provide opinions, very appreciated if experienced user will post a question and answer right away, maybe saving someone some work, like "how do i download music" or "how do i seed my downloads". those questions, that annoyingly are reapearing in shoutbox every few hours. let's all try together to put out such a complete guide into tribalmixesdotcom, that every newcomer will have any possible question answered, sorted and printed out right there.
this feature will intentionally become a must-see page or part of the page, with possible "hints" reapearing for questions like those "did you know..." and stuff like that, attracting their attention and releaving us much for the sake of having more time for other more interesting conversations... and of course everyone taking part in this, whether it's a warned user or an uploader, will be mentioned and credited as one of the authors of this project. with a huge list like photoshop has... :) post pictures as screenshots if required/explained better. so, everything you thing is appropriate is really appreciated.
