KAZANTIP 2012 had to be cancelled.

due to some nasty machinations from the portuguese government, Kazantip 2012 had to be cancelled. in two words, festival crew had their food licence messed up and improperly issued, so they were prohibited to sell food on festival grounds by some authority called ASAE. and like Sonar 2012 or Exit Festival, Kazantip 2012 was taking place in a secluded area with no access to anything in reasonable walk-able distance. no food = not providing all promised services, thus they couldn't sell tickets, yet again according to ASAE. festival crew decided to make free entrance to still have the festival a go. people were allowed to bring in food and drinks and alcohol, all to keep the crowd quiet.. but others heard about free entry, and came, and too many hungry people soon became angry.. crew gave out free food as much as they could, but that wasn't nearly enough.. and just 3 days after it began, Kazantip 2012 closed down, such stupidity couldn't continue anymore. all tickets are promised to be refunded.

in my opinion they were shutdown, either the food license was messed up on purpose, or ASAE were too strict, or maybe it was some governmental directive to "keep kids away from drugs". as everyone knows, festivals have lots of weed and pills and acid and speed and amphetamines, and in my opinion poor portuguese government couldn't sanction that much... if only they'd prohibit the festival somehow in advance, so that they could have ways to find some other place, but no... days before the start... look at that news-blog, the last entry before the dreary "kazantip is closed" was called "BEAUTY WILL SAVE THE WORLD", they were so optimistic...

Horific, i always look forward to a post event video....

A mate and i always joke that it would be great to end up in Kazantip one year for this festival.

Was 2011 the last year for Kazantip festival?

i think they will continue in 2013, now though with more knowledge of what's to come, they will look into paperwork more closely. i think maybe it was the organizers group's first out-of-the-country even, thus they got screwed easily.. wish next time they do everything the right way..

Tis why Home went out of business...because of the london council asking for too much and the fact they had too many things put on it

Its difficult these days because cops and the man want all these conditions wherever things are because they think its all about drugs...its sad.

I'm right....its sad but lots of authorities think festivals are drug taking loud annoying things. We have that problem here where the rich people on the toronto island have been fighting clubs for years for "loud noise". Its funny that most of those ppl bitching, were doing the same shit in their younger years against the older people...

personally as long as kids (younger ppl, Im 31) are not committing crimes and doing something to help the economy of my city. Im all for it.

Ok, it was 2012, but about the KaZantip 2013? Will the same story be repeated? Music festivals give new new dimensions to pure enjoyment. Every thing in legal way must be allowed and supported.

Ukraine is small country and such festivals boost many kind good things, tourism is one of it,

So let's hope best for the music tourism in the form of KazZantip 2013...

Actually Kazantip was held in 2012. You guys just took wrong info from a wrong site. And it will take place again in 2013 - from July 2103 to August 2013. There is a lot of info about Kazantip 2013 available on the Internet. Here is just one of blogs:
https://www.thecrimea.org.ua/content/view/123

but you can find any more. Good Luck and see you at Kazantip!
