Hangover Cures - Tell us Yours!, page 1

Well, I have a few I've used over the years. But my favourite is: -

2 x cans of Irn Bru plus a sausage, bacon & egg buttie - with 2 x ibuprofen.

The sausage must be 100% pork (no beef) and the bacon must be free of any chewy fat. The egg must be runny. Technically I will probably have 2 or three rashers of bacon. Maybe even 2 sausages. I split the sausages along their length too.

The whole lot is fried in oil (no grilling - ruins it). The buttie needs to be a large toasted barm cake (as they call them in the north of England.) I also toast it a bit in the sandwich press. Loads of butter, and a big dollop of HP sauce, salt & pepper goes on everything too.

To top it all off? 2 x ibuprofen tablets. If it's a really bad hangover (so I've been on the redbull and the whisky for example) I have those 200mg Ibuprofen instead. Usually does the trick.

The Irn Bru seems to settle my stomach, the tablets kill the pain, and the buttie just - well it works magic.

DISCLAIMER: Although this 'cure' works for me, I do not accept responsibility for any further damage caused to your body by adopting this method. My mum always said just get some sleep and drink lots of water and soup. But I don't know about that.

Mine's simple, yet effective.

Just keep on drinking.

That actually works a treat. I drank myself sober once at a ball at uni. Didn't really get a hangover. Just felt tired for a few days due to lack of sleep.

the best way to prevent hangover is to eat VERY FATTY foods when drinking. this way alcohol is spent on breaking up that fat, drunk state is more pleasant and happy.

if that didn't happen, the best cure for me is to drink alot of liquid that stays in the jar after removing pickles from it, like cucumbers pickled, the leftover either sour or salty water - that is the cure... for sure..

and the third way, as already noted, is to keep drinking. but not really drinking - 1-2 shots of the strongest drink i've had last night usually bring me to a state of 'normal'... =)

My mother stated the obvious, do not want a hangover then do not drink.

Hey Rich, love the sound of that hangover breakfast.... I am usually a fan of poached eggs when i am really hungover, they just go down easier than scrambled or fried. The Hash Brown and the bacon is a must!

I try and have some sort of sports, rehydration drink, before heading to bed and when i wake up in the morning, this seems to help alot and most time takes away that awful headache.

Yesterday i was terribly hungover and couldn't even bear the thought of the perfect hangover breakfast as Rich eluded to. I tried a breakfast bruschetta, worked a treat. It was bruschetta, avocado, sliced tomato, goats cheese and a few sprouts, sounds kinda weird but it was awesome, 30 minutes after my world had turned the right way up and besides sleep deprivation i was back on track.
