tribalmixes sets the standards... =), page 1

slash ProDanceCulture on May 1st, 2012 / post 45352
once again i see that tribalmixes sets the standards of EDM sharing, whatever goes here - end up all over the net. seriously. especially the old classic sets. those are like currency, as soon as shared here, they pop up on all of those direct downloading sites, all the sets can be clearly traced back here, and all that is why? cause we have the strongest community, we have most people that are INVOLVED with EDM, have been with it for past 15-20-25 years, or even longer, people that know: good music needs to be shared and heard by everyone, and everyone should have easy access to it, free and fast. and it's always so nice to pull out of your old pants some old old mix that reminds you of the past times of glorious club going and remarkable dj work and anything else stuck in your head about that night, or day, or week... truly been a blast especially recently with all the classic sets, thanks, eveyone.

i don't mind, of course, that tribalmixes is ripped off and sets from here end up everywhere else. don't mind, and even support this fact. back in 2007 there was even a site made by some lithuanian dudes that fully copied all the content from tribalmixes, they even used our genre icons on their tracker.. it's cool, it's good, i supported that. and i support this tendency now. let them take stuff from here, and reshare it anywhere they like. after all, we;re here to share music, and not for the purpose of having more toys on our side of the sandbox, right? deep inside my heart i am very confident about and content with the situation, it basically means that all those sites (and one or two of them have more daily visitors than tm does) have always been and will be regarding tribalmixes as one of the sources for their sites' content. makes me somewhat proud... yes, yes, as a good father, i always suppose tribalmixes is better than any other (similar) place out there..  but in times like this, i am sure of it.

:hooray:

i remember those days, even the lithuanian tracker, i was thinking to do the same thing as i had almost all the files from here back than, but, finally, i realized its too much bloody work to running such a source and im not a developer + i had a bunch of friends here so staied tm'er in the end

Couldn't agree more!

Sites like this are the future in my opinion.

You can't rely on 'direct download' sites to keep their links alive if they use hosting, some sites are better than others, but after the megauload issue many sites have stacks of dead links now on their forums.

Alternatively, such sites that host the files themselves might not stay around - due to the massive server costs requied.
Those costs are met by subscriptions (which sometimes leads to a 'grey area' with copyright holders of radio shows) or regular donations that are often a problem in times of recession (like now).

Some argue that torrents can go dead after a few months..... but on places like the mixingbowl, I've always been able to get any sets I wanted reseeded after making a request. So no worries there.

Yep, TM is the way forward.... and we sure do have the edge over  all the music sites that I know about...for me its about user interaction so that ppl will return, even if its the same ones sometimes, it goes to show that we can intoduce music to each other and move forward as the best site in the world..!!!   :-D
