COMCAST went crazy... my upload is 5 TIMES FASTER..., page 1

i have comcast cable as my internet provider. some of usa members of our community probably have it as well, cause it's one of the biggest cable companies on east and mid west of the usa, or at least i know of those..

anyways, i've got this premium contract, which is a little faster than regular - 732kbps upload (max~90kb/s) and 10mbps download (1.2mb/s). or maybe 20mbps down.. but who cares about download speed, right? i noticed last night when uploading a file to the radio ftp, my speed was 1.4mbps, which gives about 175kb/s, right, and at the same time i had utorrent running at 70kb/s upload capped, so that leftover 20 would be for communication, you know how it works, right? don't ever max out your upload, unless you have BIG upload speeds, at least 2-3mbps or higher.. so anyways, together ftp upload and utorrent gave about 240-250kb/s upload speed!!!!!!

i dunno what happened. my internet was stopped for a few hours because i'd forgotten to pay, but then it was resumed, and i guess something got messed up there, and my uploads got higher cap.. very nice.

ps. just wanted to tell all comcast-ers - try that at home... when i had it stopped, i called them and had a machine take payment from me, but then in 2-3 hours i got back home, - still no internet, so i called and spoke with a person and they resumed internet manually, and i guess since then i have such a big speed... =) so anyone wants something of my seeded stuff - go ahead and take it, it will probably fall to you with at least 60-70kb/s speed.. =)

;-) Comcast?
I don't want to think about them at all but unfortuately ...
Anyway, with the same servise I have that speed during some nights which means - there are not other costumer on the cable. Otherwise ~ 800 kbps.

But at the same prise you can get Verizon FIOS at 20/20 mbps - that is up and download at 20 mega bits per second which is completely different.

dunno, man... i have nowadays 400kb/s upload speed, which is 5 times more than i've used to have. of course, maximum 3.2mbps i get only uploading to people either also 'comcastic-ians' or living in chicago area. but it's quite nice... to be true, even when i had 732kbps upload, tribalmixes community (and i only seed tm torrents, well, maybe some movies from time to time after downloading them) didn't use 100% of it all the time: my utorrent was capped at 70kb/s, and about 20-30% of the time (especially my night time) my connection would be idle. nowadays what has changed? ghm... my upload speed is so big, so the stuff gets uploaded way faster leaving my connection idle about 70% of the time... and by idle i mean uploading 10-15kb/s.. so, at first i was like "nice, verizon got good plans", but then i've thought "so what, don't think that will be needed"... =) vfr cannot keep his average upload speed from top10 above 500kb/s, and he's downloading/seeding alot of stuff, almost every 2nd or 3rd torrent - and still doesn't use up all his allowed speeds... but i'll still think about this verizon thing... why don't you switch?

:-) I wouldn't hesitate if Verizon was present where I live. Maybe it will happen ... some time. month, two...or I will move, still don't know. My problem is the time. To dedicate all my time or not.
Having a high speed connection, and of caurse time, you can offer music searching it over the Internet. And there is a lot of music to find especially in forums, and lot of time to waste also.

But get Verizon 5/2 mbps, or something around that, at a prise almost twice less.
