If I were still playing that heavy tribal percussive sound, I wouldn't be DJing now. I'd be bored shitless. I'd be doing something else

I used to love Steve lawler, he was the one that got me into house music 3 years ago. I still listen to his old sets. He came to my city for my birthday the same night as Hed Kandi and I decided to go to lawler and I eneded up leaving the club at 12.30. He was just playing minimal crap, basically drug music. After that I lost all my admiration for him.

I made a similar comment in the Sasha essential mix thread, but i can't see how we can be blaming the dj's in situation like this...

We have a few current trends...
1. Minimal is very big right now and even though we may not like it there is some very well produced music out there
2. The problem is that the producers are now producing minimal and it just means that there is less people creating new innovative and creative tribal music that Steve Lawler used to play
3. When you take the top two points there will be a time where either the dj will become bored "shitless" playing the same stuff over and over again or he will branch out into new areas

Very few dj's have stayed true to a particular sound, Steve Lawler is no different..... Unfortunatley we have to come to a realisation that there was a period that he played true tribal music that we all love. We can complain that he has turned his back on a genre that he owned but i think we should try and embrace the new direction he has taken and appreciate quality music when we hear it.

 I hate minimal... 2 months ago i've been to amnesia in ibiza. 55 Euro for richie minimal hawtin, Ricardo minimallobos and Tobi Neumann.   Maximal price for minimal party.   Next time i will stay  on the beach with my mp3-player and a set from alejandro rado! More fun, less price!
