no more utorrent????????, page 1

(user gone) on August 6th, 2007 / post 20891
ok i found some awful info on some forum, please read this and tell me is it true? what will i do with no utorrent???? :-(

Hey all, the last few weeks have seen some interesting developements in the torrent world. The BitTorrent company, who now cooperates with various anti-piracy groups, teamed up with the uTorrent client. Also, a website, everlasting.nu was recently shut down by a Dutch court. This is big news since this website uses the same ISP as other sites like Demonoid and TorrentSpy. For now, Demonoid is okay. But TorrentSpy has also recently began cooperating with anti-piracy groups. This means:

Don't use the following clients anymore:
- BitTorrent
- uTorrent

Don't use the following websites anymore:
- TorrentSpy
- BitTorrent.com

The global mods will update this post as we continue to confirm more clients and websites that are getting crappy or unsafe to use. Thanks for all your support. Please realize that SuperFundo only encourages DVDRips sharing because we believe it can be justified legally as "sharing a DVD" with online neighbors. This website is maintained by many different users around the globe, and we are very thankful for all the work done behind the scenes (no pun intended).

was there any info on what does it have to do with the clients themselves??
(user gone) on August 6th, 2007 / post 20893
well everyone in that thread was saying their goodbyes to utorrent because it won't be save, and the guy who started the post just said that utorrent is now part of an anti piracy front, and i am still confused here, that's why i posted here to see if anyone has some insight.

I heard about this thing too, its going crazy.
some people even say that bluetack blocked utorrent and utorrent dht system, so any1 adding bluetacks blocklist to peerguardian will not connect 2 utorrent.

I dont think thats true thou cus ive been seeing alot of utorrent peers connecting from many trackers. (I use bt list with pg). thinks its the utorrent site and forums blocked. definitely dht is blocked

some people r changing clients, Ive tried that too, tried many including the closest; azureus 4 a while and it slows down my laptop (java) plus its queing system is just not my style.  :-/  bottom line is there is no client out there like utorrent.

decided that these r just rumors and will stick to utorrent till another good client is there....man i hope they r just rumors.

yeah, for a day or two i couldn't access utorrent.com, but then later i realized it was the peer guardian that didn't let me go there... definitely sucks butt...

These rumors are actually very old - they simply do not die.

They started one year ago and nobody has proven anything up to now.

And peerguardian with the bluetack blocklists is actually a piece of shit - it doesn't help against RIAA and the like, only that people can't connect to each other (blocklists are RIAA's little helper so to say as they slow down or hamper the distribution of files)...

so basically utorrent has become the official bittorrent client... but i'd wait on this...

WARNING: This Beta client does not currently pick up running torrents from previous versions

it looks awesome cause it's utorrent without any visual modifications... =)

anyways, don't switch until it starts picking up the old torrents you're seeding currently... i personally don't want to deal with 300 of them...
