[Joke] Apple vs Microsoft, page 1

Three Apple engineers and three Microsoft engineers are traveling by train to a conference. At the station, the three Microsoft engineers each buy tickets and watch as the three Apple engineers buy only a single ticket. "How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?" asks a Microsoft engineer. "Watch and you'll see," answers the Apple engineer.
They all board the train. The Microsoft engineers take their respective seats but all three Apple engineers cram into a rest room and close the door behind them. Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the rest room door and says, "Ticket, please." The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on. The Microsoft engineers saw this and agreed it was quite a clever idea. So after the conference, the Microsoft engineers decide to copy the Apple engineers (as they always do) on the return trip and save some money.

When they get to the station, they buy a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the Apple engineers don't buy a ticket at all. "How are you going to travel without a ticket?" asks one perplexed Microsoft engineer. "Watch and you'll see," answers an Apple engineer. When they board the train the three Microsoft engineers cram into a rest room and the three Apple engineers cram into another one nearby. The train departs. Shortly afterward, one of the Apple engineers leaves his rest room and walks over to the rest room where the Microsoft employees are hiding. He knocks on the door and says, "Ticket, please..."

hehe... i mean, it is funny, but pretty much can be applied to any "couple" of professions...
you got anything from the REAL depths of apple labs? =)

i've personally heard/seen/imagined one of the pentium engineers have made the processor (maybe p2 or mmx? don't wanna research but saying as i remember from many years ago) say "ms sucks" or something like that, you know, when assembling all those threads on the proc, he made them threads say that phrase.. but maybe i'm lying. but it sounds fascinating in any case.

that's funny :] .. and the point in this joke that MS really copied ideas originated by Apple, also from 30 yrs Apple copied an idea from Xerox but it was different because it happened more like a cooperation and wth their agreement ... I'm not against MS but look at Vista after you've been on a Mac and you will get my meaning, not to mention that windows idea itself as an OS was copied from early Macintosh (admitted by Bill Gates in the last interview with Steve Jobs at D5) ... however, Bill Gates is more than a genius and he contributed alot in the computer industry, the major problem is his lacking of innovation just like this joke show us, they don't try to innovate ideas, they just copy them from others and bring them out with a bubble of propaganda depending on their existing mass market .. anyway, let's see .. Apple personal computer market share was 2% in 2002 and it's 12% in Q1 2007 .. it's a fact that this is the fastest share growth rate in the history of this industry

actually, i used win3.11 and it was my firsy GUI OS to use after DOS and I was impressed at first because of the icons, colors and mouse ofcourse, I didn't know anything about Apple at this time, there was no Apple in Egypt nearly ... 5 years later when I started training in some company and got to learn SunOS 4 and UNIX shells, I started to realise the difference, you know, you never know how something is poor or bad except when you see the better first :) .. I belived how windows is buggy, insecure and not reliable when i started using SunOS and Solaris, even more, when i finished my training, I got an x86 copy for Solaris 8 and installed it on my home PC but my the hardware was not convenient at all and it was very slow, so I moved to Redhat & SUSE .. then finally, I found myself in Apple and Mac OS X :)

The thing that I've noticed most Apple users have that Windows users don't have is an inflated sense of self-importance that comes only with buying a Mac

it's not self-importance

Commissarlightning Leopard on June 29th, 2007 / post 19955
it's not self-importance, it's just Peace-of-Mind, have you ever got bored from those blue screens of death ? have you ever spent hours just trying to find a driver for a new device you bought and couldn't get it work with your windows ? have you ever lost all of your data and work because of a new virus attack ? have you ever been hacked ? have you... ? have you... ? these questions are endless .. Clumbsy call windows users "Windows Slaves", you know why? simply because they still get stuck in Windows, they spend most of their time solving their Windows PC problems instead of getting their word done, and guess what ? they're also still using Windows !!

Apple has been differintiating itself from the whole industry with many aspects: one of them is that they don't care about Mac market share, they only care about the quality, innovation, compatability, simplicity and ease of use of their products, they spend a lot of money & effort on their products not caring what the price will be, because they know that only people who got the sense, people who can value the product instead of just looking at the price will buy their products, not to mention that Apple is dominating the professional segment (Video, Audio & Graphic Design), also they are dominating the portable music players market .. and in three hours from now, they will enter the handsets market with the iPhone .. and let's see :)
