I'm persian(so are Deep Dish   )and here are some facts that alot of people dont know about us.

#1 - Persian people are not terrorists, as hard as it is for some people to believe.
#2 - The people hate the government but can't do anything about it
#3 - We do not hate westeners or christians and jews.
#4 - Persians are Aryan decendents (same as germans)
#5 - The body of water to the south of Iran is called the "persian Gulf" and not the "Arabian Gulf"
#6 - We dont ride on camels, infact we have every kind of climate in Iran
#7 -  We speak Farsi, not Arabic. We are also not arabs

You are truly brilliant...sep08 thats EXACTLY what i wanted to know...I never believe the media. Because perfect example..If you came to america and met a redneck for your first caucasian or american person you would hate americans if you based everyone on that one person. I used the last pic of yours as my background. Looks like a BEAUTIFUL country..i didn't know that you are descendants of aryans..i did know the name of the body of water..and didn't know the fact that you have 4 seasons...Great Response. :thankyou:

Gald that you feel that way bocaccio11. I've been to the states alot and my parents even got their UNI degress there. Most of the people are nice and nothing like the government. It would be great if people from the west could travel to Iran and visit my country, but our stupid government does not like foreigners and makes it tough for them to travel there. Hopefully in the near future we will be able to overthrow the government and free our people. The people in Iran are party animals and love house music, Last summer when I was there we used to throw  parties in the northern part of Iran (Near Caspian Sea) in our villa be the beach. Possibly the best experience of my life. Now all this talk has got me homesick  :'-(  :'-(

well, we're a very small country, but here are a few facts about us:

- name: slovenia (in case you didn't know that :-D )
- we are NOT slovakia!!! (a very common mistake people tend to make)
- we neighbour italy, austria, croatia and hungary
- although we are small, we have many various types of landscape and scenery (mountains, forests, plains, hills, valleys, rivers...you name it)
- over 50 percent of slovenia is covered by forests, which puts us right behind the scandinavian countries up in northern europe
- we lived under german repression for over a millenia, but still managed to preserve our unique language and culture (we were part of the yugoslavia federation since WW1, but are a sovereign nation as of '91, members of the European Union since '04)
- our club scene is really booming over the last 5 years or so! parties almost everywhere over the weekend! the downside to this is i see a lot of minors (14,15 or even younger) at these parties.
- slovenians are (percentage-of-population wise, of course) the most frequent users of the firefox internet browser in all of europe! :-) not really important, but still thought it was worth mentioning ;-)
- two world famous dj's are slovenians: umek & valentino kanzyani! only techno, i'm sorry to say, but hopefully, that will change in the future! :-)

here are some pictures:

they're not as high quality as those posted by sep08, but i'm too lazy to upload them myself

sep08: to be honest, i didn't think iranians are all terrorists, but i did think 99% of them are muslims who have no other pleasure in life than praying to alah :-) i'm sorry if this sounds insulting to you, it wasn't my intent to insult you in any way. but i was really surprised to see so much... green color :-D on your pictures! i was sure iran is like, totally covered with desert!

bocacio11: maybe you could give us a few more "behind the scene" facts about americans? because, personally, i think americans are the most arrogant and self-centered people i have ever encountered!   also, i have watched some of your talk shows, and it seems you americans tend to make a big fuss  over nothing! (i think the bill clinton affair also comes to mind here  ) i didn't mean all this to sound (and/or look) so agressive, i realise this could all just be my prejudice, but that's kind of the "global message" your country sends to other nations around the world. on a more positive note, your hospitality towards foreigners is well known, even here in slovenia! :-)

good day to all!
...the magic never stops, it merely fades away...

Unfortunately you are right...not about every american but bout alot of them..Alot are very rude and arrogant. Me..when i see a foreigner i might ask them some questions bout where their from. Alot of mideasterners own gas stations here. And ill ask them where their from mostly pakistan or egypt..Some african and Indian. But i try to be nice to foreigners. And i really dont care who the head of state sleeps with. I even find it humorous. People always want to know whos screwing who. All you have to do is tune in to E! the entertainment channel and it talks bout every celebritys personal life..You all live in BEAUTIFUL countries....Is it true that the movie Hostel was filmed in Slovenia. Sorry if im wrong but i thought it was there. Not all americans are mean and arrogant. Just like every race.Every race has extremists. I dont know the exact name for the extremists in the middle east so im not gonna name it. But in america they have Snakehandlers and i consider that a form of exremism. They handle snakes in church. Thats crazy if you ask me.

More responses please. :-D  :-D

Ok there it goes:
- In Italy there are still several politicians (wage 10,000/30,000€ per month) who have been PROVED to be a part of the mafia back in the 80's and the 90's
- Meritocracy has never ever even showed up down here...
- It is the most beautiful place to have vacations, a place where you will go crazy if you live in it
- At the traffic light under my house there is this old man asking for some spare change...he's been there for as long as I can remember so it was probably worthed...Luca, you are an idiot that you wasted your time studying!
- The weather is turning awful!!!Before (untill few years ago) it was amazing, now it is so hot during the summer that you cant breathe
- I personally lived part of my life in NYC and I totally love it there, I would move back tomorrow...Unluckly my VISA expired and when I asked for a new one they wouldnt give it to me, so, any american girl here on tm, would you marry me? :-P
- I dislike Italy and I dislike all the Italians that think they are better than everyone and always think at a way to fuck the others up.
- I hate going to job interviews and say "Hi I am Luca, I am here because I know your friend......", and believe me without knowing anyone You will not do shit in this fucked up country.

Probably enough for a day, ah?
