Open ? Yes, but I must say that it's very difficult for new stuff to battle against my all time fafovourites. The older you are the boring is most of new songs to me. Techno was for example in the 90ies totally new stuff but all latest new genres are just a mixture of basic techno genres I already have in stock  :-D

The more music you own the bigger is the problem what to listen to. And when you have a job and a girlfried and so on ... time is too short for all. You have to focus on what you like and therefore new stuff has to be equal or better than music I already own.

MP3s is a different way. I can listen to it and if dislike = delete !

In nowerdays it's very difficult to target my music taste. I'm still open minded but there are only view musicions that are above average  :-(

I must say no, because these new dj's (not all of them but the majority) copy from the masters of house,so i'm sticking to the old already known dj's.

total agree with lucabati for once more.
poor millionaire oakey should have retired long time ago.
it is always exciting to find out someone new even though that's quite tough in greece..

EXACTLY... i remember the Essence Parties @ home club... i remember my first real party, Satoshi Tomiie @ Home..  and a lot of other parties.. most of my old favourite djs can't get my attention now. probably they're not the same as before, because i like to listen to those "old" parties...

house sucks i cant listen to a house set these days its all the same commercial bullshit of course there are some djs like hernan and many others but there showsa re too boring i only like there live mixes ...for me trance is the way to go lots of new track every week and its a very active genere unlike house every good track that gets rlsd is overplayed to death by everyone...but what can we do but accept that house is dying and when i say house i mean the standard house not electro and other sub generes cause lots of djs are switching to electro

well .. I've been saying this from more than a year :) ... the true house music was 4 years ago .. only few house djs now are creative, the rest are very ordinary and just play the same over and over .. so I've been always bringing new names here and ask people to give chance to them and hopefully some of them gained respect like Thomas Penton, Abel Ramos and others ... last to say, it's all about the music you listen, not the name behind it
Bluemaxlightning Power User on July 25th, 2006 / post 8065
Try to argue from a point of age ...

What is for example 'true house music' ? When it all had begun with chicaghi and new york house back in late 70ies and earlie 80ies or 90ies or ... ? I guess you'll get the key. It's always the same circle. Music you first got in is the best and after some years it went too commercial and your favourite djs are changing the style or went nuts  ;-) This is a normal process from my point of view. This has happend several times to me when I got into techno in early 90ies. But in this decade I was lucky always to find new genres which boosted my mind.

Im am very intersted in what will come in the future but I suppose that most part of electronic genre will become just pop. There is still good music but you have to go into 'underground' again or to a few djs which spin the vinyls like hell ! Myself I only know a few ones which are ahead because they are able to play different genres and to mix them all up. DJ Hell is such a guy for example ...

Many years ago I sorted out what kind of music I like and what I dislike. For me it's about sounds, melodies and basslines. House music with poor basslines sucks, minimal bores me to death when sounds are the same like most minimal tracks ... and so on. Maybe you should keep an eye not only on genres but on the basics of the music you like

edit:
The most boring thing about djs is that most of them can not play sets with atmosphere and tension over the set anymore. I come from 'classic techno/trance' and in early 90ies dj sets lasted about many hours and not the normal 2 or 3 of 'best djs'.  The dj was not a pop star, he was just the nice guy with the vinyls. Music was more in the middle than a genre or a person. I wish that time back but this will never happen. But I believe music is always going forward.  You won't find this music on radio stations or at massive dance events. You have to go back to vinyl stores and listen and listen and listen what it's the best for your taste !

edit 2:
very good music approaches at these 2 labels
- https://www.ultimae.com this is for ambient music

- https://www.sutemos.net a net label for minimal music with free downloads in awesome quality. Try the Flow.ers sampler (sutemos 008)!

I'm sort of open Ill take a quick listen and can tell if his selection is good and the mixing is on the money. If within the first 5-10 minutes it does nothing for me it the DELETE key for me. An example was during the WMC at Space Club I heard DJ Sultan, I had never heard of this dj but in the first few minutes I felt the music and since I will download anything by him. As for generes, I like deep house, progressive and trance but again it depends who the dj is and there selection and of course the mood im in. If im at the beach I may go with some groovy house and than progressive to some harder stuff after a 6 pack of beers :-D  I have to agree though one one of the members if they are new djs they are playing the stuff of the big DJ's that have been made. You just can't dj without having some producing experience to separte yourself from the rest of the crowd if not you end up sounding like everyone else and Im not going to bother.
