but why? youtube-dl works just fine.

not everyone uses Windows/Linux comfortable command-line representation... Youtube-dl is not that useful when you're on your smartphone, be that Galaxy or Iphone... Youtube-dl does not work fine on those 2 platforms, or at least needs extra tech knowledge to accommodate that.. and these days mobile is prevalent.. so you do the math.

For those amongst us who don't mind using a terminal/console, there is now this fork of youtube-dl...

The plus point for this version is that it generally avoids the download throttling that's become an issue with youtube-dl.
It has all the same commands and functionality of the original, as far as I can tell.  Works with many websites, not just YouTube of course.
Tip: Add ffmpeg.exe to the same folder you keep yt-dlp.exe in, for the automatic processing of AAC (DASH) audio streams - so that they are put into a .m4a  container automatically for you.
