British news publication The Daily Mail reported earlier this month that New Zealand’s Prime Minister is not only the world’s youngest female leader at just 37 years-old, but was once a mildly-successful DJ.

After spinning tracks at her local record store in 2013, Jacinda Ardern went on to play at the Laneway Music Festival in 2014—a festival which featured names like Mount Kimbie, James Blake and Four Tet.

Former Laneway co-promoter Ben Howe told Spinoff: “We were chatting at the music awards about Laneway, which I think she has attended most years just as a music fan. Without really thinking about it too much I said, ‘You should come and DJ,’ and she said, ‘I’d love to’.”

While Ardern considers herself a “tune selector” and not a “real DJ”, her performance at the festival’s Thunderdome was a hit, and featured a variety of tunes from Smashing Pumpkins, Sid Vicious and even Snoop Dogg.
