how would you bypass a blocked site? by not visiting, maybe?
but if you wanna enter a blocked site, just put vpn as proxy, i guess.. or use HOLA for firefox.. it may use some of your bandwidth though, so be careful. it;s a 'give-a-take' system..

you can actually setup PPTP on any android phone as its native on all devices..the caveat being is only uses basic/lower encryption which makes it faster..however at a cost of encryption which negates the main reason...openvpn client works me on my samsung

might as well use a public proxy..same difference!!

You don't need a VPN, just a non-censorship DNS-server. Google for OpenNIC and write those numbers below DNS in your network adapter.

opendns or 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 DNS does not circumvent censorship

OpenNIC is not OpenDNS and not Google (8.8.8.8. / 8.8.8.4) .
And to not have a DNS-leak, one should write those DNS-adresses in the network adapters. One should also flush the DNS-Cache, maybe even turn off the DNS-Client of Windows completely (solves many problems) and if using the OpenVPN protocoll, there's also a fix-script on the site you linked.
The only real possibility for DNS leak I know is, if the router is set as a DNS in the Network Adapter, then, if one doesn't have assigned special DNS-Servers in the router too, the ISP-DNS-Servers may get used.
[EDIT]
But you're partly right, to have a 100% non-censored Internet, one needs very special DNS-Servers, like those the Chaos Computer Club ( https://www.ccc.de/ ) linked some time ago. And to access even the Deep-web / Dark-web, TOR is needed too, because no other browser can open .onion links. It's some time ago, since I informed myself over OpenNIC, but they should still be without censorship. My VPN-provider has gone over to provide his own, extremely fast, completely non-censored DNS-Servers since some months, so there's no use for me anymore to use other DNS-Server like i. e. the ones of OpenNiC, Google, Cable & Wireless or whomever.

not heard of opennic project, however for a true browsing experience with the majority of your privacy intact I would only use a credible vpn provider with something like Tor as supplemental
