tribalmixes radio?, page 1

so the idea is tribalmixes own radioshow... 24/7.  Dj's could play live, mixes could play while there are no live shows... I think it would be awesome and I would definatley contribute as a dj and for hosting fees.

I guess this will be in the future, near or far depends on somethings .. personally, I hope this will happen as soon as possible :)

hmm... think about it :) if you run a netradio, playing the newest mixes (the mp3s has to be on the server, or someone has to broadcast all day long) why would people use torrents? IMHO they would probably rip the newest sets, then not download it.... but who's downloaded them, probably won't listen to them....

we have a one alternative...on the radio can plays only tribalmixes podcast,mixes by tribalmixes djs and live sets from TribalMixezTrio....

sometimes i think the guys at justmusic fm get the music from here too 8)

you guys have made some really good points.  though my opinion still stands that it would be awesome to have tribalmixes radio... i'm sure we could fill a lot of slots for live shows... I know i would definatley play at least 3 times a week if given the chance... and as far as playing mixes that are on the site... we don't really have to play that many mixes that are on the site, we could play some classic mixes, some new... and we could ask our dj's to make some long mixes that would run throughout the day... plus it doesn't only have to be music... we could have someone do edm talkshows... there a bunch of ideas...

oh well. how could i miss this.. :) ok, some good points made by viktor and craig. i can only say this... and many many positions of this to follow... :)

no torrents on the radio, only maybe sometimes something really selected, because website will make no sense at all, otherwise i'm sure that people come here for torrents, not radio stream of our own, they will still download alot, and we have here torrents WAY more per/day than a radio could play on 1 channel 24/7/365, i mean, WAYwayWAY more music!

as any other radio is organized, mp3s of shows are stored and saved, and then replayed, newest shows replayed in next 1-2 days, old good shows sometimes. so we could do that same way.

we have many featured djs, and very many of their music already ready to go into the stream, i guess they will not mind. also for streaming well famous djs w/o their approval is not good, i think.

of course weekly/daily shows make the backbone of any radio. and sure there should be something new daily, preferably, of course. and podcasts could get broadcasted... i guess their good quality versions. shows MUST have guests, preferably NOT from the radio, this will help expand somehow. and of course very much would be great to have at least 10-20 djs on the list to start the radio with 5-10 shows at least...

also we could easily arrange free ftp uploads for those who wants to do it, or "auto-created" ftp personal accounts per request, so that our users could upload their mixes too, and our radio djs can also select those mixes to be aired in their shows as guest works, thus maybe coming up with opportunity for those guests-ftp-uploaders to become radio-djs as well.

what else... we could air promos by djs, say some djs instead of uploading a torrent, first says blah-blah i have it, wanna air it first? that could be cool, or we could run a compain "give-us-your-promo-to-air-for-release-thing" something like that. so when someone comes up with a new promo, would be nice to air it first.

for this thing we will definitely need an uplgrade, i think. our current 10/10 port will only allow about 80 listeners on 128kbps. i don't expect even that many at first, but it is not good, you know.. always look into things before they arise with problems.. so 10/100 port upgrade goes for $15, i think. then bandwidth... now we have 1700GB monthly total bandwidth as in contract... unlimited bandwidth here, i guess. only like that. and i don't know price of that. we could easily broadcast from this very server, i think. because 10/10 port of constant 80 listeners online listening so all 10mbps speed is taken for uploading stream to them, 3000GB traffic is produced.. even more with down stats.. i guess there should be some caching or something for this stuff.. or some kind of speeding it up, but anyways... these are options. and of course radio is going to cost website some cash.. but here are more causes to donate.. :) and we could pay-out something too in future, as an option to think of...

gotta ask jozeg if he can broadcast into the sattelites with his system, so maybe we can be FM in every city... :)

sounds nice of course - but here are some quick points to mention:

- as a radio provider we have in some way to compete with others - it's all about listeners
- it's a totally different financial model
- if we offer music that way we have to pay for it otherwise it's illegal
- we increase our commercial actual value, so companies could access TM as a promotion platform
- we should have a business plan. Witch indicates the direction and our main goal...etc. pp.

If u guys do go ahead and launch this, please redesign the website so that the tribalradio or XYZradio is presented as a seperate entity....

You can have 5-10 shows but you can also start a slot for weekly competition mixes where you can choose a winning mix in return for a gig in upload credit etc. ... will only encourage quality work... u know...

i have only satelite reciever not the satelite station.

you can't  send data to satelite like that. you must have a provider who sends signal to satelite.same way like tv signal.
