After a freak soccer incident in a semi-pro tournament crushed his knee, Will Monotones dreams of being a professional footballer were over. The fates had something else in mind for him that day his love and passion for music were deemed more important than soccer. From New York to Los Angeles, Boston to Houston, Chicago to Miami, NYC-based DJ/Producer Will Monotone has seen it all. Growing up in South Boston, Mass., Monotone first fell in love with electronic music at the young age of 16 upon hearing legendary DJ Eddie Baez play a local under-21 club. From that moment, he skipped town to head to the bright lights-big city action of New York, sneaking into clubs to sate his hunger. Playing in local clubs brought along a slice of fame a following. Monotone used this to play in larger venues, including the infamous Avalon (New York, Boston, Los Angeles), Roxy (New York, Boston), Cielo (New York), The Guvernment (Toronto) and Mynt, Nocturnal, Opium Garden and The Shelbourne in Miami’s South Beach. He spins under numerous monikers as well. As Will Monotone, fans can expect a very dark, New York-tribal sound. As Stripper Slayer, his dirty electro-tech sound comes through, complete with rock undertones. And as Fama, a progressive tribal-borderline-house sound rears its head. Monotone is not just a DJ. Hes been producing since 2001. He’s produced remixes for names such as Kobbe & Austin Leeds and for labels included Kult , Fatal Music, Hamachi & The Land Of Voodoo. He has collaborated with the likes of Alan T., Lance Jordan, Bashar and Ty Tek. He’s bringing his original productions home with Hush Traxx, his own label HUSH.
