The Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology decided to reduce the broadband subscription tariff to the half, but this reduction was met by a limitation; which is setting a limit of 2 GB of downloaded data per month. If you exceed that limit you'll be paying 20 L.E. for every extra 2 GB.

Sounds like they want to limit the traffic. On the side they use a "it's getting cheaper for everyone"-excuse.

well i found out whats the deal now ...this only applies to 256 lines wich cost 40 le with a max dwl of 2 gb but all lines that are higher 512-1mb and such dont havea limit so its all a scam to make ppl upgrade to 512 and pay 190 ...well done govermant

yeah but i think u have the same connection as me 512/256 ..thats not allowed anymore we will have to be 512/128 wich means goodbye uploading :S

I live in Canada and the company with which I have my internet with had a limit of 20GB upload/donwload limit per month. At first they used to call and threaten to cut off the service but after a while I think that they realized that people download much more than that so they stopped calling
I usually download / Upload around 70GB of stuff per month.

Huh. I could never live in a country, that has transferred data limit, since in last 3 days alone I uploaded for 50GB ...  

well My connection is 2 MB unlimited so I'm not into this stuff and I will tell you exactly how this thing work

it's 40 LE for the limited download  2GB  and 95 LE or the unlimited ones in 256/64 connection

and 85 for 512/128 with limited download 5GB and 160 LE  for the unlimited package

120 LE is for 1024/256 with limited download for 7GB and it's 280 LE for the unlimited package

180 LE for the 2048/512 for 13GB limited download and 500 LE for the unlimited package


these are packages prices and limits also they are studying the 5MB speed and the 8MB they are going to be so F**** expensive but this will be great new speeds in Egypt and I would like to get the 8MB one  

I visited two places in Egypt, one with 8mb and the other with 15mb

yea your right they are avialble but not all ISP have it in my work we've got the 15 MB one but downloads are not allowed    also 3MB is avilable with unlimited download only with 760 LE per month 3072/1024 connection

How goes the currency..1 LE trades for how-much $ ?  

Well the prices have now changed and i am only talking about the unlimited

1 Mbps 140 LE for unli
2 Mbps 220 LE for unli
4 Mbps 380 LE for unli
8 Mbps 695 LE

there are 16 and 24 Mbps but any SANE home user would NOT get those speed for the prices
the worst thing is they are applying a fair usage policy

25GB for the 512 Kbps speed
40GB for the 1 Mbps speed
60GB for the 2 Mbps speed
80GB for the 4 Mbps speed
120GB for 8 Mbps

80 GB for the 4 Mbps is not enough i will pass the the first 10 days of r them month

yeah but its getting cheaper...ive just upgraded my network connection to 4MB ..which seems to be the best Egyptian connection in here...i have a couple of friends on this network too but most of the time i use it alone
