I'm on vista. I run symantec antivirus. What else should i use? Please do not tell me how bad vista is. I just want security opinions.

As long as you don't go in shady websites and don't download unknown files you will be fine. I haven't had an antivirus on my comp for a while since it slows it down and have not run into any problems. If you really wanna be safe from hackers though, I have heard a firewall (hardware, not software type) is the safest way.

i would use nod32 instead of symantec stuff... and do not forget to install some kind of spyware remover, like spybot search&destroy (free)... if you have a router, then probably it protects your pc from incoming connections (firewall), but it won't filter out outgoing applications (which is mostly done by software firewalls, called application level firewalling)
