Rebroadcast - what is this?, page 1

It is often said “This is a rebroadcast".
So, what actually does a rebroadcast mean? Obviously, e repeating broadcast of something – a show in our case.
The announcer of ASOT show says at the beginning “there are more than 25 fm stations” to broadcast the show. “Nocturnal is now officially the worlds fastest expanding Dance Radio show now broadcast on 105 Radio Stations worldwide since its official launch in April 06.” Are those show broadcasts rebroadcasts? Obviously not, because all these stations are licensed to broadcast the show. Every first licensed broadcast cannot be a rebroadcast.
The same with some shows on XM Radio dance channels. ASOT, Global, Transitions, Club Live, Nocturnal ... are not rebroadcasted shows on XM Radio. They are licensed to XM Radio and their intended publics are North American listeners simply because the local fm stations in UK cannot be listened over North America.
In the context of the tracker a rebroadcast maybe means a torrent for a show for which a torrent has already been uploaded. If this is the case, then what is wrong – for me - nothing. The real question is what the new torrent adds for the users.
• It adds nothing, then it is useless, but some users can prefer to download the music from it.
• It adds the possibility for the new users to download a set no more seeded. (Even the torrents are present or in the History.)
• The shows are not exactly the same – example: Club Live on Radio 538 (Dutch) and on XM BPM (English)
• It adds better quality sound – I think always appreciated.
• It adds better compression at the same quality – there are many mp3s @ 192 kbps even higher which quality is actually 128 kbps sound. (Here I would like to add that with my relatively powerful computer – dual core 3.4 GHz CPU - it takes me a lot of time finding the proper compression options when recompressing a VBR compressed file.)

So, I see many good reasons for new choices to be given.

P.S. One more reason to add with examples with the Nocturnal show.
• I share the Nocturnal show recently for the reason of better quality. The show is usually offered as an mp3@192 kbps DI.fm recording but in some cases is a 128 kbps quality. Obviously the better alternative is the real 192 kbps sound. But if the fake 192 kbps show has been uploaded first, the real 192 kbps would be lost.

A reason for my personal preference - more information:
• The last such show has been offered as “Matt Darey - Nocturnal 094 (DI.fm) - 26-May-2007” and almost nothing more.
With all my respect to Matt Darey his show is attractive for the exclusive guest mixes also. The last show guest DJ was Mauro Picotto. Not mentioning this fact simply means the uploader either did not know who Mauro Picotto was or has not listen the show at all. In every case,  I would prefer to download the files from an uploader who has given this fact.

A rebroadcast I would highly appreciate.

There are torrents for downloading a set of different DJ’s mixes. For example:
Dance Department & PartyNight  @ 538 radio - 08-oct-2006
The torrent downloads 9 30 min mixes.
(Tiesto, Trentemoller, Carl Cox, SASHA, The Scumfrog, Dj Hell, Ozgur Can, Bob Sinclar, Dj Preach)
The only mix I had interest was Trentemoller’s. So, why should I download other and what is this a monopoly imposing unwanted conditions?
If there was a torrent for the Trentemoller’s mix only it would be a rebroadcast I would highly appreciate.

I didn't read the first post as it is too long  but as for this you can alway download only the files that you have interest in that is what I do pretty often.

Me too i do like matevone and about matt dareys upload its willys upload not me because i always upload matt dareys hour alone and the guest mix hour alone i prefer doing this so members can choose... and between i have another opnion about rebroadcast with all the respect to u Spasv... i will give u an example from a few weeks i uploaded here transitions from john digweed then after a few weeks i saw on a radio an EXCLUSIVE SET from john digweed and i heard in the middle the word transitions.... this is a REBROADCAST thats wht i mean alot of radios just say its an exclusive set and its rebroadcast to the djs shows its not just about liscenced radios and this stuff.
