It seems now my vkaudiosaver doesn't want to update even if I am logged into vk.com...workaround for me was install the savefrom.net extension and you can browse the vk.com content once installed https://en.savefrom.net/7-how-to-download-vk-music-videos-photos.html (for any browser, FF and opera use their extension, Chrome uses something called chameleon which didn't work very well for me).
I think you have to be logged in to see the additional option (mouse over at the end of the track to see) a 'download' arrow, enjoy! ( or https://www.zippysearch.info )

Stopped using vkaudiosaver for the reasons stated before, however this fills the space https://zippysharermp3.com/ more than required
, some dark prog/old stuff I get from vk.com (you need to install the savefrom.net addon).
I have it in FF and Chrome, however the savefrom addon displays the download track (arrow, mouse over shows file size and bit rate) in Chrome, whereas in FF it doesn't for some reason.

However as I have all but ditched Windows only for use with SeratoDJ, I have found this https://vkaudiosaver.ru/downloads/ for anyone else who is a long time/forever Linux user.
...it comes in multiple package formats (*deb, *rpm so alot of O/S to use on)....tried and tested this weekend and very good (better in fact than Pirate app) using the backend vk credentials as before, enjoy!
