User Name

Hey friends!

So, I've avoided forum posting and other social interaction on this site for the simple reason that, nearly 2 years ago, I made the mistake of signing up using Facebook as a login mechanism.  That gave me my fb username on this forum, which is of course my real name, which I don't care to use on a regular basis on the web (I don't even use fb any more...)

For as long as I've cared to check, the FAQ has stated that the ability to change your User Name is "coming soon", possibly in exchange for points.  Count this as my one and only vote to make that happen soon.  This site's rules are oriented around social interaction and I'd like to contribute a bit in that area!

Any chance you guys could make this happen?  Ideally I would disconnect my account from fb but barring that a "simple" user name change would suffice.  (I work in software so I fully understand that this may not actually be "simple")

Thought about sending this as a PM to the site owner but realized that others may benefit from the conversation... that's what this whole social thing is about, right?

As a Moderator i am not sure if this is possible? Slash can you clarify if i can do this or you can do this? If i can, can you give me an idea how to do the user name change.

I know the link you are referring to in FAQ has been there from day 1, even since i joined.

the note's been there since the time facebook registrations have become available, maybe 3-4 years ago..

yes, i said, i'd do it, eventually.. this is not something that'll change the way we are... you know... one guy threatening to be social if his nickname was changed... nah.. not seeing a reason to look into that..

I have been trying to register properly since initially logging in via Facebook yrs ago..... NO Joy, Won't allow me to do so ??? Hey Scott it's no bother, I have had no real problems so far, although if TM will allow me to register properly using something oither than my real name then it is something that i definatly WANT to do  

well, ok... if this thread gets 10 more 'yay'-s, i'll reconsider.

No worries then, and thanks for the reply.  I'll just use the site the way that I have been thus far - find great music, download it, keep it seeded, and all is well.  Thanks again, and I promise no more threats to be social  

Hey all, not sure what happened with this thread, but if possible, I would like to put my 'Yay' forward, signed up here more than 8 years ago, and I really didn't think about not linking torrents to my name lol
