Trade was not really a club, it was based at Turnmills but fuck it...its my thread
If anyone wishes to write one or give me information on any fucking club I should do....ask me. I really do not wish to write everything..
I leave it up to you

Hmmmm, never been to the Hacienda, but I have seen a few programmes about it on the telly and I 've been on a pilgrimage to its former site (now appartments - sacrilige) as I used to live in Manchester.
It must have been one hell of a place though from what I have heard and seen and read. The crap weather in Manchester fed the need for somewhere to go to escape it all and get off your pickle... the place was a pressure release valve for clued up northeners an eventually a whole lot more and was inspired by that continental summer party scene that was infecting UK tourists, so they wanted a slice of it back home.
I suppose every city has places/had places like that at some point or another.
I am a little too young to have gone there, but if I had been born 10 years earlier I know I would have gone - lot.
A bit like those clubs in Liverpool (Cream) or The Que Club (Birmingham) or The Opera House (Bournmouth) you just have to go - even if it's just once.

I can say Andy, I always wanted to go to Hacienda, but like Rich, I was too young to go...and was more of a bedroom bedlam anaorak...my DJ buddy went I think and will ask him if he has any pictures or stories as he's a few years older than me!!!

yeah, opened 30 years ago... by the time it was shut down i just started developing my tastes in dance music.. hehe...
i disagree with the words that "every place has a club like that".. not where i used to live - UFA, Russia.. 1.2 million of people live there, and club night life has always been at its all time low while i was there up until 2001.. now i cannot say, i don't know, but i am sure it still sucks, even with all world djs going there these days, it still most likely sucks.. =)

Opened 21 May 1982
Closed 28 June 1997
Demolished 2002
Location Manchester, England
Owner Factory Records and New Order - Peter Hook still owns the name
Location Whitworth Street, Manchester
It was originally opened in 1982 and was supported by Tony Wilson and New Order, who were directors of the club. It is most known for Mike Pickering and Graeme Park playing Nude on Fridays. The place rarely made money and you can read about it in Peter Hook's book called "How to Not Run A Club". The club was plagued with drug and security problems over its 15 year opening. It is known so well with the Madchester drive of the late 80's with bands like New Order, The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, Northside, 808 State, James, The Charlatans, The Fall, A Guy Called Gerald among many others.
Did you ever attend the Hacienda?, What was it like? Any memories? or pictures?
