sounds quite interesting. and actually reveals why trance music, and more of it as acid trance, has been so popular before, and then died out: because these are the simplest effects (like frequency cut off makes it sound acid right away), and they were first to be used in synthesizers, thus acid trance (and house) was developed in the beginnings.. and then kinda stopped.. why? cause synthesizers have become more complex, with more effects...

As you said slash the acid sound became very popular, whole tracks would play full on "ACID!" all the way through.
The Acid sound is still used quite often in Dance music though usually in more of a subtle way layering it with other sounds.
It is very satisfying hearing a sound,special effect etc in a track and knowing how it was produced or hearing a sound and wanting to learn how it was produced .
It's also quite a cool
