one of the best features in Mac OS X (Basically UNIX) that you stay always surfing and downloading from the web with no worries about any viruses, trojans or spyware ..
ps1: it needs to be a very skilled hacker to break into any unix system and it's nearly impossible cause the common remote login client now ssh is totally encrypting all data including passwords so even if somebody got the data, simply he will not be able to decrypt it
ps2: about this topic .. i recommend Mcafee Security Center including antivirus, antispyware, antispam ....etc

Kaspersky antivirus & firewall

well, so many ways.. i'll tell you guys the ultimate strategy. windows xp firewall + norton antivirus. since last reinstall worked like this for 2 months. before that worked like that for a year, without os reinstalls, never check with any antispys.. last reinstall happened because my room-mate didn't know websites with registrators/cracks have 100's of spys ready to hit you. and she let them through.
well, and the solution is - know what you are doing. spy from the web will not be able to get in, if you will not let them in, and it happens when a pop-up offer of a free virus scan or something just close window, don't slect yes/no, just click [X]. if some soft offers an install and you don't know why and what, reject it. only agree to offers when you know you have initiated it by clicking buttons/links on web-pages in browser, otherwise - no!!!
seriously, don't overestimate spyware. yes, it's hard to get it out sometimes, but it's very easy not to let it in, just have that firewall active, and a good antivirus with updates for trojans/mail scans. people do overload their systems with anti-anti-anti-stuff. i've cleaned computer for my boss, spend about 24hr of machine time on it, but it was evry dirty, but afterall left it with firewall, norton av and installed genuine microsoft 'windows defender', which i think will soon evolve into best anti-spy-ware in the world... well, in 2 days he tells me it's slow again, windows don't even open and stuff... when i looked at his computer again, i found 2 firewalls, 2 antiviruses, 4 antyspies, 2 pop up blockers and some tweaked filescanner to top it off.. and the reason? overloaded with protection.. after i removed all that extra stuff, back to fw/av/wd as to start with, it all works ever since no problems at all..
