Olympic 2012
Peace...Love...Unity...Respect
I absolutely love the Olympic Games, both summer and winter. And I am excited to see them in London. A always, I think the swimming events will be particularly captivating. The USA Mens comeback victory in the 4 x 100 free last time around was spectacular. Lezak....Lezak!!!
As for Phelps in the upcoming games, he has mentioned that this will be his last Olympics and that he will compete in fewer, and some different, events. Where that leaves him in the competition for most medals, we will have to see.
For the country total, the US is always a favorite. The resources in manpower and finances coupled with the diversity of citizens of many regions gives the US a huge advantage. But the medals must still be won.
Overall, I love the competition, the pageantry, the gamesmanship (Alain Bernard anyone?), and the sheer excitement. And I love that it is in London.
Bring on the games.

And I should have added...Ryan Lochte is a force to watch this year.
dunno, been a fan long long time ago when we end up in the 1-7 top, cant remember exactly, but it was sensation, such a small country with awesome list of athletes...
lost interest bit by bit since and only look at the 100m men final [sprint, not swiming]

I Agree....Lezak is one hell of a freestyle swimmer to watch.
The person to watch on the track and field is Usaine Bolt from Jamaica. One hell of a runner. Can he beat his own World record on the 100 Meter.
Also, for the team competition, can the Dream Team, USA win the Gold or not. Many great teams out there in the beasketball compettiion in the Olympics. Few of the teams to watch out for this years competition are Argentina, France, And Croatia.

you know, like a big boy playing with kids
U are right about that. :)
I think he has been taking way to many Nurtition Vitamin for his hormone system...LOL :)
The only way to beat him is if he got sick or threw up while he was running in the race.
Good Luck to All his competitors. :)

yeah, i recall the names from last year when reading them here, but otherwise i hardly remember any athletes.. it'll be hard to predict anything now.. there'll be half of them new athletes anyways..
for most medals, i think that'll be China
for most gold medals, i think USA
lets rather do predictions/estimations per country per sport? cause at least we know what countries are generally strong in what sport, but going with peoples' names - that is hard..
what country wins what sport?
ps. check https://www.london2012.com/ for everything!!

I think that is great idea Slash.
Many Sports to choose from so I will predict few of them:
Men's Basketball: Gold-USA, Women's Basketball: Gold-USA
Men's Table Tennis: Gold-China, Women's Table Tennis: Gold-China
Men's Futball: Gold-Italy, Women's Futball: Gold-USA
Men's Indoor Volleyball: Gold-USA, Women's Indoor Volleyball: Gold-Brazil
Men's Beach Volleyball: Gold-Brazil, Women's Beach Volleyball: Gold-USA
That is few of them. I will pick more later on.
Many Swimming Events so I will predict individual events later on before the Games, I am just picking some of the team competitions for now.

hehe.. what about, we don't go back to our prediction posts, and later when it all boils down - we do go back and count who predicted what? predictions end JULY 25, 2012.
if post is edited after 25-jul-2012 - we assume it was fabricated later, so do prediction finalize predictions until then, and don't touch them after! wanna change it? edit the post with that prediction, and save it no later than 25 Jul 2012 (i can see when posts were edited).
let me do a few of my own:
100 meters men & women, 100 meters relay men & women - Jamaica
200 meters men - Jamaica
400 meters men - Jamaica (i really hope Bolt will do it)
do they learn to run short distance there cause of constant busts on weed smoking? they just run away real quick? lolz..
800, 1500 meters men - Kenya
5000, 10000 meters, marathon men - Ethiopia
20 & 50 km walk men - Russia (50 km WALK in 3.5-4 hours - that is ridiculous... i wouldn't run that long that fast)
high jump & pole vault men - Russia
200 meters women - GBR
400 meters women - USA
100 & 400 meters relay women - Russia
20 km walk women - Russia
high jump, pole vault, long jump women - Russia (yes, russians still got it, i think, in athletics)
archery - all 4 gold medals to South Korea =)
badminton - all 5 medals to China
baseball - Japan
basketball men - USA (as much as i want Lithuania to stick it to US for once, they are weakened as of late)
basketball women - Russia (i hope)
boxing is too hard to predict...
don't care for canoeing
cycling - i'd give like 10 of 18 medals to Great Britain...
diving - all 8 medals to China, they've been truly crazy with diving..
equestrian, field hockey and fencing are ridiculous sports..
football - both men and women - BRAZIL, although women USA can do it too.. who knows..
gymnastics - Chinese domination with, maybe 12 of 18 medals, USA should take another 5, leave 1 for Russia
handball is another ridiculous sport i don't care about..
judo - 4 for China, 4 for Japan, 2 for Azerbaijan
pentathlon - mens Lithuania, womens Ukrain
rowing - is hard to estimate anything there.. who knows..
sailing goes to Brits (4 golds) and Australians (3 golds)
shooting - 5 for China, 4 for Ukraine, 2 for USA
softball - let's give it to Aussies..
swimming - well, with Phelps still dominating, i'd say 14 golds out of 34 for USA, 4 for Australia, 4 for Germans, 2 Japan, 2 UK, 1 Russia
synchro-swimming - Russia beats all with both golds
table tennis - i agree, all 4 medals to China.. centuries of practicing kung-fu give them kind of an advantage...
taekwondo - 3 to South Korea, 2 - Mexico
tennis - men singles Spain, men doubles - dunno, women singles - Russia again, i hope, men doubles - no stopping USA
triathlon - both golds to Australia
volleyball team men - Russia, women - Argentina, beach men Brazil, women - China
weightlifting - give 7 of 15 to China, dunno how they beat Russia, but Russia lost their strong men when they lost all the asian republics like Tajikistan, Uzbekistan etc, give 2 to Kazakhstan, 2 to South Korea, 2 to Tajikistan
wrestling - another Russian-dominated, i hope, 8 of 18 medals to Russia, 3 to Georgia (ex USSR), 2 to Japan, USA, Canada, Ukraine can take 1 each
my top gold 5 medal horders
USA - 40
China - 35
Russia - 30
Great Britain - 30 (have home-advantage this time)
Germany - 20 (although i didn;t name germans almost anywhere, they probably excel in sports that i listed as "don't like")
my top 5 all-medal countries
USA - 100
Russia - 90
China - 80
Great Britain - 60
Australia - 40
so this is my way... you?
