comment on 39: it's a great concept, actually, especially the particle part of it. there's a theory, that if a spaceship could have a big enough SAIL (similar to normal boats with fabric/fiber/whatever sails) it could accelerate up to the speed of light with enough of those light particles bombarding the sail (again, similar to WIND blowing and air molecules actually pushing that sail thus pushing the boat).. not a fact, though, cause it's hard to check.. =)

35.
Atomic particles are made of quarks which are probabilities living in strings which are the fabric of everything including space which is nothing.
Comment on 37. Dead on, slash. Right now that possibility is the only realistic way travel of distance in space. Conventional rockets, etc, burn out way too fast to reach any meaningful speed. The craft ends up slogging along at speeds which on earth are incredible but in space are almost nothing. The sail you speak of continuously but slowly accelerates as the photons hit the sail. The ship is in near constant acceleration meaning its maximum speed is bound only by the laws of physics. Such a ship, while left way behind by the rocket early in the journey, passes the rocket and accelerates away.....way way way past the rocket over time.

fact: that will require a REALLY HUUUGE sail... such huge, that it will have to be put together right in space, possibly several times bigger than earth diameter... =) i am just imagining size, i am not sure.. maybe even bigger, maybe smaller.. light is not water, you can't feel it's pressure, thus without formulas and much knowledge of all sub-atomic physics it'll be hard to calculate the size of the sail.. but would be cool, right? but dangerous too... asteroids and other stuff can easily render it useless, well, not fully useless, but less useful..
