This topic isn't about favourite genre of dance music nor favourite Dj .
It's about the actual quality of the recordings.
Below is a extremely
1.Original Audio source/master mix using only original uncompressed, wave, flac,,cd , vinyl etc tracks
44 - 96 khz
2.A 128 kbps or preferably higher 44khz mp3 mix , encoded from the original 'master' mix that used a uncompressed source.
3.A 128 kbps + mix that mixed already compressed mp3's - I.E - Audio compressed twice .
4. A highly compressed mp3, less than 128 kbps using 44 Khz or less encoded/recorded from a already compressed mix of 128 kbps tracks
5. A mix of white noise
Now logically we as music lovers should be aiming as high as possible. But practically even if a Dj could acquire all the original ,unaltered/uncompressed tracks for his/her mix, it would be a considerable larger file than a mp3 to download in a original quality format like flac.
So the balance on audio quality on the internet is weighing up possible quality between the practicality's and or costs of getting that quality.
So to sum up here on Tribalmixes we should be at least aiming for audio quality anywhere between 1-3 .
Though of late I have noticed quite a few mixes with '5 star' votes sounding like audio quality of 4 and below.Even if the mp3 is higher then 128 kbps the original source must of been so bad the fidelity of the music is seriously muffled and some don't even have balanced stereo channels .
I can comprehend why someone may enjoy a mix even if it's at a poor audio quality. Surely though a logical vote on music, which is sound ,should take into consideration the quality of that sound .
So should tribalmixes users try & set a bench mark of audio quality ?.
Maybe add another vote?.One for the mix and one for the sound quality of that mix?
To me they both go hand in hand yet the voting shows this is not the case for some.
Then Audiophiles like myself that love listening to the crisp sweet high frequencies and deep harmonic sub bass frequencies in electronic dance music will not feel like they have just downloaded 5 star 'audio crap' .
