Q - why u dont jump on every single torrent on the tracker?
A - tried that one afternoon... takes too long and I end up with a bunch of stuff I don't like :)

I just let anything I download roll until the tracker ditches it.  For me, it's about 10 to 20 torrents a week.  So I would download new torrents, but old ones would die... which is why it took forever to get to 1000.  FYI, I wasn't really trying until a few weeks ago when I saw I was getting close.  Not a big deal really... it was just fun to try!

connection doesn't matter here. i have regular cable 768kb up, 10mb down, i mean, it's like advanced cable, - regular is twice less on each parameter. what matters here is hardware/software. on my old and slow p4 1.6 with 1gb ram i managed seeding that many torrents using utorrent, and my whole connection was utilized for 1 computer, which also helped alot. now i have a router for 3 computers, which kinda kills the connection if i go over 400 torrents. and the final part is... only 10-15 torrents of seeded would upload at the same time, so each had several kb/s of the pie..

2 vfr: and speaking of such, what is your hardware setup? i see you're using azureus (although i've noticed some time ago you've ran some linux client, no?), which means you need ALOT of memory... azureus on my computer couldn't hold more than 170-200 torrents - it would eat up all the resources... just curious what a computer it would take to seed so many torrents.. with azureus... =)

You would be suprised...  It's a pent 4 3 GHZ HT with 2 GB of ram and 2 500GB drives.  One is for the OS, the other just for tribalmixes.  The whole computer is dedicated to tribalmixes and I don't use it for anything else.  It's running windows 2003 server and I have tuned it and/or killed any unnecessary services.

:-) We could generalize the topic in the sense:  The resources we use.

So, what my resources are and where the bottleneck is?

Pentium D dual core CPU 3.4 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 2 250 GB (Serial ATA) HD
I usually cannot load the processor. The applications I work with use one thread of execution so it is possible for me to load the CPU 100% when two instances of NeroAACenc.exe are working simultaneously.
The interesting thing is NeroAACenc reports “Processed 3654 seconds...” (more than one hour processing time) for an hour set compressed as VBR avg 211 kbps while it takes less than 5 minutes. So, a fast multi-core processor is definitely useful.
Obviously Azureus does not use HD when process the torrent files because I could run less than 400 torrents with it.
My HDs are almost full and I cannot hold my row .wav files. I do not even try a FLAC compression because currently I work with about 50 GB free HD storage.
I used to use a 2 mb/s upload Internet connection and even then that speed was not enough for the peak upload. (It is a tragedy with something about 380 kb/s now.)
The bottom line:
• 2 mb/s up or faster Internet connection,
• more than 1 TB HD storage,
• 2 GB RAM or more,
• dual core CPU or more powerful.
