How about joining the Coin Mining Game as a community?

slash ProDanceCulture on November 3rd, 2017 / post 71709
yeah i don't mind it either.. my pc takes it very well, liquid cooling and numerous fans were designed for gaming, thus sustain mining easily. while windows shows 70-80% cpu usage, it has no impact on normal operations..

lets see what others may say.. if kept it on, i think, i could set up some benefits like hit'n'run immunity, or a donation in your name for what you've mined, and top miner charts, of course..
slash ProDanceCulture on November 3rd, 2017 / post 71710
for example, this whole month i had my pc mining, for the most part.. i keep site open all the time anyway.. and so with 107 million hashes out of 1.8 billion total communal, i've contributed about 0.0156XMR to 0.264 XMR communal mining. in USD it'll be about $1.3 at current XMR exchange rate price of $84..

so i am thinking, if you mine lets say 500 million hashes, then you've earned about $5 for tribalmixes, then it can be turned into a $5 donation being made in your name..

Interesting thread. I don't mind running while on site and I usually just hang on the site all day. I was on TPB last night and this am Win Defender found "brocoiner!rfn" with a threat rating of HIGH. So Thanks for that Heads Up about TPB.

well, I don't like it at all and have blocked it using noscript.

Donations work, but mining can be thought of as profiting from sharing torrents, and I do not think that is right.

I didn't read all the posts, but I have no problem with this feature.  I HIGHLY appreciate this place and I have no problem lending my resources to TM's benefit, especially considering the settings are adjustable.  Is it possible to set it so that I'm contributing more than the default? Bc I dont notice any effect on my computer

You are wrong; those hosting this site are providing an enormous service to people all over the entire world, free of monetary charge; what the heck is wrong with the source of all this good music possibly getting paid a little bit to make us dance?

I been on this site long time. probably 8-9 years now. And we been in arguments with the creator when I was younger. Its his site and rules are set the way he wants to. It's a great idea to open such a site first of all. If he can make profit of it and you want quality stuff without buying it donate. But people usually tend to forget so in his game he has the rights to bitcoin from your computer in my own prespective as soon as you know it. if you dont like it buy stuff...
Iosif Progressive Fan on November 9th, 2017 / post 71728
Slash you can make it just more friendly and do it like "hell yeah help donate push this volume button up" so everyone can choose how much power to share...and you will see machines on 100% LOL

I dont see a problem with using the miner.
Esp when you have the option to turn it off.
Dont like the miner turn it off and nothing changes.
Like the Miner keep it.

Thinking about the miner as a "profiting scheme" for TM is 'tarded IMO.

I should have started billing users for the time and my expertise sourcing music for TM, esp with all the seedbox's I spent on. I barely even devoted enough time as the current/past uploaders and mod team. Even if the evil owner of TM was profiting behind our backs, I personally would even give him a pass.

I like the idea; given the option to turn on and off.

I welcome change

it seems that everyone has substituted donations with mining.. or rather let's put it this way: since mining has become an alternative to donating, - donations have pretty much stopped. this 3-month period is really poor on donations.. it's been almost 2 months out of 3, so about 60% of the time has passed, and only meager 15% of needed server rent has been donated. usually by this time there'd be 80-90% donated... so...

i am thinking, maybe, make a button that'll generously donate all you mined. i know it already belongs to tribalmixes, but to reward miners - we can set it up as if you are donating by mining, and turn all you've mined into donations according to current XMR->USD exchange rate.by the end of 3 months all "unclaimed" mining work will be reset..

in my opinion donations are better, cause they do not require so much work from me personally. i have mined about 10% of the total mining, plus my wife's computer did about 10% too.. so i generated 20% of all the monero mining.. this is not a level of involvement i am looking for myself, to be honest.. but at this point i am worried that if mining stops - donations will not resume, so i'll have to use my own funds for the server rent...

so, i am working on new site design and version and concept in general. so i am thinking to set up mining as an optional thing, when you can start mining manually or set up auto-start via profile. in any case, anyone has any ideas on how to set up mining, i mean, in terms of user experience? maybe put a mining goal for the week or month, and have some kind of rewards for that? by mining this much, you will donate that much for this week, thus blah-nblah, no? anyone?

I assume XMR mining will become less and less profitable as time goes on, so I think you're right Slash in being worried about its impact on donations. Game-ifying mining could help in the short term. Maybe a weekly leaderboard with prizes? A chance for a prize to "drop" while mining? Heck you could probably go full Idle Clicker(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incremental_game) with mining if you wanted to really create a game out of it :). Would certainly take a lot of work though...

EDIT: Excited for the new site design!
