I'd like to see more underground music in the Essential Mix of 2013.

The BBC can give the kids what they think 'they want' on Radio One all day long, all week long.

But when it comes to that 2 hour slot, it sould be dirty, dark, cutting edge and underground.

Less SwedishCheesMafia and Deadchee5 please!  :shoot2:

And don't get me started on all the commercial 'dub !

Utter bollox, it was one of the only EM's I listened to... and it was absolute shite, not fluid... just a selection of tracks thrown together which had no sequencing prowess whatsoever, this proves time and time again that the BBC know nothing of great music and are completely out of touch and will remain so
slash ProDanceCulture on December 22nd, 2012 / post 55243
well yeah, it was a showcase of tracks for the Essential Mix and its listeners. he did a good job, everyone seems to try and stick like 50 tracks into these 2hr mixes, and so he did. actually search string nicolas jaar torrent is quite popular at the moment on the internet...
munkynstar Moderator on December 22nd, 2012 / post 55245
I'll stand by my original comments slash, not one for me ever... the only other I listened to and that was Oakenfold on his non jounrney mix... the only other two which I haven't heard and will listen to is maceo plex and Dubfire, but that one looks like his opening Fiesta set at Space in may

My thoughts on the nominees and the winner went from :-O  to  :-(  to   .

Of course, I'm American so what the hell do I know.

^^
:-)

American here too, so clearly I know nothing ...    :wall:

No matter, my 2 cents:

Nicolas Jaar deserves best EM of 2012.  No one else even came close.  Stunning in its complexity and variety - not just more of the same.

I listened to each and every EM this year but, since I'm American, who cares about my opinion, right?  I'll just be at WMC / MMW this year - again ... knowing nothing...

but Zeon said it was the greatest masterpiece ever...so steer clear!

I thought it was disjointed. I loved the Gaslamp Killer, it was lots of different tracks
