DJ MAG's top 100 (i'm not participating this year), page 1

slash ProDanceCulture on July 8th, 2012 / post 49857

well, what did i wanna say about this? simple: I AM OUT.

to he honest, i did vote last 3 or 4 years, with one simple reason in mind: every vote counts, and i wanted to see Sasha, Lawler or any other of my favs in top 100, i know, i know, one vote wouldn't solve anything, and that is exactly why i never voted for my next president, but in this situation i actually felt passion and voted.. and never anything, but oh well..

but this year i am finally out. a few reasons date back to the last year's top 100: seeing names i've never heard about in there was half of the problem, the other half consisted in part of "guetta first??", "trance is still most loved?" and "wtf hard-stylers are doing in there?".. but i could have conquered those, yes, i could. but decided not to.

i've always known that DJ MAG top 100 is some proper sham. who knows if they haven't been paid by some DJs to show up in there, i can't say, again, i have never seen some of those names until the release of the results.. and i can agree that DJ Mag, running this global venture, could have had some side-plans in it, like getting more coverage, more visitors, some human traffic and stuff like that, it's ok and isn't a big deal for me, i have such aspirations too, even with this article: i am hoping it will get some hits in google search and people will come by to read it and to, maybe, register and stick around. why not? we're all allowed for some hidden schemes and shit..

but, apparently, this year DJ MAG has succumbed to 'all-things-social' and have really complicated the process of voting, plus they are carrying out very deep hidden agenda of becoming seriously liked and integrated on facebook. you click on their 'vote here' link, and it throws you to facebook, where you're supposed to allow some stupid app access to your info, plus it's planning to post some shit on your timeline, plus you're supposed to like their page, and only then you can vote, or something like that, i do not know for sure, cause for me it stops on the app-step. WTF?? why do i have to like another ridiculous app just to vote? what happened with email only votes or last years?? i dislike facebook apps in general, i don't use ANY of them, simply because of that shit they all wanna post on my page, plus it's never obvious what them apps do, they always want you to engage and like them or allow them access BEFORE you even see what's inside. it's not my cup of tea, i don't step into the dark waters without first measuring the depth. right now it's about 200k users of that app, so many people don't care. i do care. i care not to be a part of this facebook-djmag duality where main idea is to get those stupid likes instead of running a proper legitimate TOP 100 POLL. this really pisses me off...

and so i am not participating in this year's voting.

Couldn't agree more.  For many years, DJ Mag's annual poll has been almost laughable.  Not sure why or how Guetta gets up there, as he's a criminal to all forms of music.

ATB is always there, or thereabouts too.  He's fucking awful.  Made a couple of terrible commercial trance records about 10 years ago; and I've never heard of him DJing anywhere.

It's an awful poll.

I got one for you....the top 100....we got a mate of ours in 200? at 105....lmao. He was a shite deejay but we got people on ta.com to vote and vote and he finished above really amazing deejays.

it proves that it is a popularity contest

I have respect for Digweed, because he says vote for your fave deejays but never says VOTE ME ME MEMEMEMEMMEMEMMEMEME

Ask Mallam, he did a REAL TOP 10 last year and we should do it.

well Mallam would do it but it would take him 9 months for finish it, the slacker....so fuck it...I'm doing the first ever tribalmixes top deejays poll.

we have all kinds of stats. top10, maybe?

top100 djs global poll only been active since 2009. that was the time when re-rating was introduced: users were invited to re-rate their djs every year, thus creating a more relevant final scores

True MO :)

It is all about the Music, but the music must have quality to it. Good Sound and Great Beat to the Music. Really, the music must have Great Vibe to the Energy.

I will not vote for just any artist because they can mix beats together to sound great. There are more to Music then just putting together just any beat, If that is the case. I would vote for anyone.

It takes great amount of Time and Quality to mix a certain beautiful Sound of Beats.

i don't see what two of you are proud of... if you two and 10k more of "you" would vote, maybe sasha or digweed could win this thing.. no matter though... cause i don't care for this poll anymore.

Slash :)

I am not saying that I am proud of anything.

Do not get me wrong, I voted for DJ Magazine 100 couple years ago and I understand how you feel because many of the people that do vote. It screws up everything. Actually, I voted couple times in the past. Honestly, I wish that proper DJ's get the credit for there talent but that is not the case because of certain group of people that do vote and it sucks ass.

The only thing I am trying to say is that, I just listen to the music now and thats all.

I get it, I understand because we are very big fans of EDM and certain DJ's need respect. Thats all Slash :)

I don't have too many arguements about the Top 100 that has been compiled by Tribalmixes. Now that it has a yearly update to it, i am very pleased! I feel the levels of popularity for quality djs fits well in that top 100~

I am more interested in the djs and the partys that lead up to and support the awards, there is always a splattering of new and old talent that comes to support. One of Sashas memorable mixes came from the awards two years ago  :-D

I suppose this is a chance for those of your who read this to say, within your torrent files the djs, partys and radio which you can vote on all lead to the top 100 on Tribalmixes. Take the time to think about your votes and submit them accordingly and support your favourite dj here on TM, Check previous years, it is good to see those djs in positions they deserve to be.
