some ppl really ruined the whole concept of the idc this year  by acting like a bunch of whiney cunts ...ohh my set was good how didnt i win..oh the vote rate on our torrent is too low ,someone must not like us so they did it on purpose ...u ppl seriously need to grow up unless the idc is the highlight and the biggest achievement of your dj career then shut the hell up and stop complaining ..ok kids ?? you know exactly who you are

i totally agree with this! I was in the IDC... finished 8th place! AND IM SATISFIED! The best team won! thats a fact! Congrats to all... and enjoy the music!

while preparing the judges' results and ratings for the better browsing/viewing, i've come around a very very very nice thing... i cannot talk about 19 other teams (just yet), but the first place has already got over a 100 of snatches and about 25-30 ratings... so far it's a flat 4. and after normalizing the summarized judges score - we get 4.07... so far blind judging proved to be truthful, at least for the first place. of course time will pass and new people with new ratings will come, so we'll be able to conclude more from the similarity or difference of judges' and users' ratings, but i can bet right now - 80% of the users ratings will match judges' blind ratings.

Judjing had to be like in IDC 2008 - with Official Judjes, Supporters & Listeners (More judjes = more votes = most accurate result).

Didn't have time to read about the whole IDC thing this year, but i think this is the best of the three latest IDCs, mainly because of blind judging (to be fair, i didn't downloaded any set yet). I wanted to be part of it as DJ like in past editions, but i've been busy these last weeks. Hope the next year IDC still alive keeping the judging blind and will be great to be part of it again.

Congratulations to the winners, thanks to Slash and company for making this competition each year, and thanks to all contestants because if nobody joins the competition there is no competition at all

IDC 2009 OFFICIAL JUDGING REPORT

here i would like to say a few words about judging and the Honorary Judges of the IDC 2009. every judge was getting all sets cleaned out of id-tags and named-numbered as 01.mp3 .. 60.mp3, judges were given 3 weeks of time to complete their duty. judges were to listen to each dj set and to rate it in three different ways: 1) the DJ play (technical side of the set, transitions, effects etc),  2) the Tracks (obvious, including their composition and set structure), 3) the Feeling (to dance or not to dance, basically how the set feels, this rating was the most none-objective one out of three, the way judge liked or disliked the set as a simple listener). after that all ratings were summarized for djs and then for teams, and final scores were published everywhere on the website. scores are not normalized, but if someone wants to see averages - the winning team's average score is 4.07 out of 5. there were 16 judges originally, 7 of them failed their task for different reasons, but 9 completed, finished it well and on time. below is the list of the usernames of the judges on the website, they are listed in alphabetical order without any correspondence to the judge1..judge9 (j1..j9) aliases used in final reports. same is with the comments also included below. this is done to protect judges' identities, for reasons quite obvious.

j7: i really don't see the point.. shoveled all genres and hits and effects in one boiling pot.. this is what comes out...

j8: A felt this was a very technical set. Some great effects and sounds that came together in a unique way. I was not into some of the tracks. Nice submission

j1: good mixed with a an equaly good build up perfect for this kind of epic prog style

j3: Whirls along me, I feel the DJ... absolutely great!

j5: nice set, proggy and uplifting house set, precise transitions, the tracks just blended together harmonicly, the set just on the border between trance and progressive house, couldnt define it. The only thing i didn't like was couple of mixing clitches in the last 10 mins and some in the middle, but other than that it was a nice set.

j7: all-forward mix here, going higher and higher, but basically transitions made by the book, good but not great, tracks are finely tuned together, but no pearl in them.

j8: This mix is really good, great mixing skills with a great selection of tracks. Thanks for the great mix.

j1: quite well mixed, some more catching build up was needed but good overall

j5: dark cool beats, nicely done, very smooth transitions, love the track-list full of twisted beats and mangeled vocals, the music is so mood shifting, liked the tech minimal rythems in the middle of the set, and the slow electric ending, great base-line, awesome set.

j7: great mix, gets evennicer by the end.

j8: Very nice, one of the better tech sets that I have heard in IDC 2009. Very nice track selection and a good beat. I actually had to stop this set about half way through and there was an anticipation to get back to listening to it.

j1: A mix with its own style, sadly leading nowhere

j3: I feel like in a factory: robotical noises in rythm, good work!

j5: nice set,i do love its techno minimal beats, the transitions are very smooth, the tracklist is amazing very harmonic, the set's base-line is off the hook. did like the unity of the set, again an amazing job done by the dj, the tracks choosen where new, i kept dancing till the end of the set, this set is going straight to my ipod :)

j7: really liked the tracks - good choice and arrangement, especially the last few. all in all - great work done, although could pump more feelings into the mix, make it drive more...

j5: nice intro, awesome base-line, awesome minimal tech tribal beat,  the transitions are great, full of twisted music, the techno beats around the end are amazing.the track selection is superb. all i can say about the set that this is on the top of my favorites list right now.

j7: loved the dj work on this one, plus excellent tracks. although something was missing in the air.. maybe some more speed?? ..

j8: I found it hard to get into this mix, the track selection could have been better to improve the mix. I like that first track

j5: very dark ,techy set, i like that :) ,the dark proggy beats infused with tech tribal beats, love the efx used, transitions between tracks are perfect, killing tech beats, on the top of my favorite list the track-list is just crazy, amazing set.

j8: I felt that this mix was up and down – I was really into it for a track and then gone for the next. There were some really good tracks in there, but the set didn’t come together for me.

j3: Huhh... perfect build-up DJ-work, took me from the start to the end... I love that!

j5: love the intro, good trance & progressive set, the transitions are ok,  the tracks are harmonically attached to each other, this sets' base-line is very good; banging, i love trance music and this  set shows why we all do love trance music vocals, fast beats.

j7: awesome, fast, fast, fast, phat music beats and speed. excellent mix, thanks alot, had me beating to the beat all the hour!!

j8: I found this one just a little too upbeat. The track selection was good although there were some solid electronic tracks used through the middle which detracted from the overall set.

j9: Nice Set, Good Vibrations.

IDC 09 - LATINAMERICAN CONNECTION - DJ VAKUS

j1: had its moments but overall a hit & miss

j3: Retro sound in the future confire up the spirit of the 70s'

j5: i loved it ,very good set loved,the track were mixed harmonicly together, the transitions are seamless, perfect useage of vocals in a techy kinda of a minimal tribe beats imbeded with some tight proggy beats.my legs and head kept moving as i was listlening to this set 8) loved the track-list, the only thing i didnt like is that most of the tracks were featured before in a couple of sets on TM, but anyways its an awesome set.On top of my Favorites list

j7: good mixing, has its own drive, nice tracks selected, good ending, good stuff

j8: Thought set started strong and fell away towards the end. Some great effects and sounds but didn’t come together overall.

j1: quite good, 1 note - some tracks' bpms were dramaticly changed making them sound 'streched'

j7: didn't know but i do now - i like this kind of music, done well it has very good drive, very nice stuff!! tracks are wonderful in this mix.

j3: Well-built set, good tracks, nice composition.

j5: tech & minimal mixed together perfectly, banging tracklist, one of the finest sets i heard in the IDC, awesome set.

j7: great mixing skill, awesome work done, althoug tracks i thought weren't chosen carefully, and constant rhythm changes kinda shut it down for me...

j8: I felt that this was slow starting set, around the 20 minute mark the mix springs to life with some interesting tracks.

j9: Soft.... but nice selection

j3: Start listening and after the 10. minutes come the surprise... :- ) Exact, fine, I love this set!

j8: A nice smooth mix with some nice vocals used throughout the mix. I really liked some of the remixes that were used.

j7: great effort done and can be seen in the mixing area, good transitions, tracks mostly similar in their beat, but the whole atmosphere of the mix is quite exciting. great music!!!

j1: had some decent music but construction-wise its very poor

j3: This is something new what I ever heard. I may call this style "ambient minimal trance"... really enjoyable! :- )

j5: good house set, the transitions are a bit bad, the tracklist is not that harmonic, the base-line is messed up, didnt like the build up of the set. the tracks that the dj choose are definitly cool but not arranged in the rigth way and even miss placed, i do like the tracks, but the the set as a whole is average.

j1: a great, great first half with a rather inappropriate continuation

j3: This is the kind of set what call you to the dancefloor - my heart gave a leap...

j5: very uplifting set, chill & deep, bit of clitches, didnt like the too much looping, very soothing set, perfect for the beach or for just chilling.The transitions were very good, the thing that was so cool is the change around the middle when the set becomes more tech less deep, i do like the tracks, awesome set.

j7: great danceful mix, awesome stuff.

j8: Liked the beat to this one, good track selection makes for a good set.

j1: a decent trance mix

j3: Well-built set with the mood of the giant trance parties...

j4: good begining, but  i feel borred at the middle

j5: Liked the first 15 mins; the transistions were very good, but after that they weren't that good, i do like the track-list, but i think if the dj had put more vocals and more techy beats it would have been alot better.this set gives a trancy uplifting feeling with a hint of proggy beats but it feels rusty.

IDC 09 - The Egyptian Team - Marwan Fouad

j1: this mix was recorded awfully loud, sounded super distored plus mixing was quite bad

j3: Good effects, good tracks... it's a pity for the quality.

j4: not happy

j5: bad set, the transitions are horrible, the sound is very bad (clouded), the tracklist isnt bad but overall the set isnt cool

j7: nice mix, retro feeling some parts, good track arrangement, but recording.. omg... cannot listen to it on higher than 'night-time-everyones-asleep-volume'...

j8: I found that this set sounded distorted. Tried a different media player with no success. Very hard to give a true judgment because of this. Gain may have been too high?

j9: Good Work

j1: i really liked this one but i think some tunes were kinda misplaced

j3: The plan of the composition is very ok, but why the mixing technic is so sharp... broke the mood many times.

j5: very cool deep proggy set, loved the track-list, the transitions were good, but the build-up wasnt that good.

j7: set is built very well, good transitions and dj game, tracks almost perfect, and good feeling to the dance floor i think.

j8: Good style with some nice effects thrown in there. I enjoyed the feel that I was left with from this mix

j1: Perfectly mixed, great choice of music, well constucted.

j3: Good, soft sway in minimal...

j4: V.good one

j5: very nice Deep Proggy set ,i do get a feeling that this set is so plain so minimal so soothing, i do like the track-list ,the transitions are smoothe the flow of the track are more of a march of rythems and beats in awesome base-line,it did move me  although its chill deep minimal house nature.

j7: great mixign done, but not superbly awesome, i cannot say that. tracks chosen good, but nothing really giving away.

j8: I thought the mixing was good in this mix. The overall set I had trouble connecting with and enjoying the beats.

j9: Soft, but Nice changes, transition... Ideal for Soft Party or Warm up!!!

IDC 09 - Pacific Light - Loconas

j1: mixing could have been better, overall an avarage mix

j3: Rich in ideas, light and cool jazzy feeling, I like the mood...

j4: nice

j5: i loved the oriental banging tribal begining to the set,but the tracks weren't positioned perfectly,the transitions betweeen them weren't good, even an effort couldn't be felt, but to be honest it looks like it needs alot of work on it, if i were the dj i'd keep the first 5 mins and the jazzy vocals and instrumentals and throw out the rest very annoying set, at first i thought that i found my favorite set but after 5 mins i saw that this set was done in a random way or on a hurry. didnt like it at all except the first couple of mins.

j7: excellent mix, something mind-blowing, especially the start - just loved the start. kinda chilled towards the end.

j8: I felt this set was a little disappointing I felt it lacked the ability to get the body moving. Some of the sounds/effects were amazing.

j9: Good Work

j1: groovey dark prog mix, keeps u movin, probably needed some more appropriate outro

j5: Very cool Dark Tribal start  , didnt like the efx, too much beats that doesnt fit. the base-line is messed up, don't like the part when the sets BPM starts to slow down then it accelerates ageain couple of times and hate that fact that the dj is trying to infuse alot unmatching of genres together (i do like infusing of all genres, but when they do fit) like when he transformed the set from the dark proggy tribal mood to the Electric techy proggy mood to tribal house mood .then ending in a pure tech mood. Didn't like it at all, very bad selection of tracks and poor mixing skills .

j7: something outstanding here, dark and deep start into tribal ending. bravo!! even the ancient tracks didn't turn me down!!

j8: Liked the combination of vocal tracks and the dark beat in places. A good mix.

j9: Some Clasics.. but keep it a nice work

j1: great set, had soul

j3: Turning, technical set with a brave move in the end... cool!

j4: V.good one

j5: twisted beats, transitions are seamless, the tracklist is good, little edgy but cool set

j7: perfect mixing, great dj work, mix been put together very finely. respect to the dj!!

j8: I found that there was a bit too much genre mixing in this mix. There were some excellent tracks but overall the set didn’t come together for me.

j9: Good Work

j1: good mixed, poorly constructed

j3: Light flow without any surprise...

j4: good one

j5: an average set, the transitions are a bit rought, didn't like the mixing style, the track-list was ok, yet another mixed genres set, but not well done, i think it needs a little more time in the oven, it did have its momments but overall it didnt shake me.

j7: good dj work, nice tracks, but didn't feel like dancing...

j8: A very good mix up till around the 40 minute mark where there seemed to be a transition of genre which I had trouble enjoying. Great mixing.

j9: Too Many Progressive!!

j1: kinda muddy, altho had some very decent moments

j3: I don't really feel what the DJ want, but fact he has style... :- )

j5: Nice set, the mixing is pretty good, cool tracklist, nice build-up.

j7: great set, good work done, kinda driveless though, emotionless all the way until last couple of tracks.

j8: The opening track was excellent but I felt the set did not continue after that track. Overall only average.

j9: Good Work


IDC 09 - Electronic Angels - Dj Bullet

j1: rather poor mixing for this genre, and overall lacked soul & feeling

j3: Surreal sound, creativ mixing... this is what I call "electro-minimal"

j5: the transitions were not that good, i do like the track-list, the thing that bugged me alot why did the dj lower the volume each time he mixed the tracks together  that made me see every track coming, which is not cool, very plain set minimal beats mashed with tech house

j7: moody mix, very moody and is great for that reason. tracks are nice as well.

j8: I was unable to enjoy this mix. The sound production on this mix is reasonably quiet.

j9: uuhm... Have to work a little more for my taste!

j3: Dinamic, powerful, sensual... wonderful journey, thank you!

j4: feel lost

j5: deep house soothing beats and then going mad proggy beats, that a nice combo set, very well done by the dj the track seamlessly collide with each other, the rythem moved me, i do like the track-list starting very deep and then going berserk, the transitions were very good, the music shifted the mood instantly, awesome set.

j7: great mixing here, good tracks, and in general quite a danceful mix. good work!!

j8: Excellent mix, loved the track selection in this one and I really liked the vibe that the set left me with. Thanks for this excellent mix.

j9: I dont have enought experience on this genre!

IDC 09 - Electronic Angels - J-Smith

j1: an afterhour mix that is quite pleasent for the ear in compare to other in that genre

j3: Minimal not means that nothing happens... it does. :) The long-time floats give extra sound to the mix.

j5: average techy set, good tracklist, good mixing technic, bit down on the vibe.

j7: great performance!! and tracks - very good stuff!!

j8: Nice set, I like this one, some good tracks and the mix leaves you with a nice feeling. Good set.

j9: good work, no more to say!

j1: original, moody, had a groove - this one was really good

j3: Dinamic, full technical DJ-work with a little playful mood, faultless in every respect... brilliant and magnificent, great thx for the experience!

j5: funky tracklist, good build up, nice mixing, awesome set.

j7: awesome mix. very good mixing and tracks. thumbs up!!!

j8: Excellent production, all facets of this set impressed. Thanks for the mix.

j3: Flying-high trance music in a well-builted set, good work!

j5: very nice set, love the deep proggy tech beats, the mixing is great.

j7: nice mixing and good tracks, missing the driving feeling, though...

j8: Some good tracks but mix did not flow together for me.

j1: lacked any kind of construction, altho decently mixed

j3: Clear, exact work, but I miss the DJ's personality...

j4: good one

j5: the transitions were not that good, the tracks are very rthymly selected ,i do like the track-list(how harmonically the tracks are mixed), the dj throws alot of dancing electro beats in a very deep techy set to make it more noticable as a dance set and not in a good way, i did dance a little to the tunes in this set  but every couple of mins i just cant help it to think that it was made on a hurry or something, the last 20 min is a mystery to me not make all the set that way or make ,like the first 40 mins .

j7: awesome mixing, great work done on dancefullness, but tracks... seemed a little out of shape there.

j8: Very interesting choice of tracks. Great use of vocals in the right places. I had to listen to this set again just to make the right decision. I really enjoyed the first 30 minutes of the mix and then felt a genre change and that changed the overall feeling for me.

j9: Nice Work

j1: great set, kinda messed it up at the end

j3: Great technical solutions gives another way to join the music

j5: good set, good tracklist, the buildup wasnt cool, need a little bit of spices (More tech electro beats :)

j7: mostly poor mixing, over-streched transitions, weird music...

j8: Some nice effects used throughout this set, but overall I felt only average

j9: Nice sounds.. soft... but I like it!!

IDC 09 - CIL Sound - Dj Lak

j1: the beginnig of the set and the end were quite bad in compare to the great and moody midpart

j3: Well-builted mix with exciting tracks

j5: funky tribal beats, nice tracklist, precise transitions, awesome set.

j7: quality mixing, good dj work, excellent tracks, drive is in this mix (good), although is poorly pronounced (bad).

j8: Nice mix I like the style in this one. I thought that there was room for some more flowing tracks.

j9: Good Work

j1: kept a groovey mood but the ending stage was kinda weak

j1: kinda sloppy mixed, needed some more dynamic mixing and build

j3: Considered build-up set, good tracks... you can't stop listenig! :- )

j5: very cool deep proggy set, the transitions are pretty good, awesome build-up, little bit in the chill zone.

j7: great tracks, good and solid dj work, but lacking the drive, i would say... as background music - welcome, but dancing - i dunno....

j8: Excellent mix. Excellent choice of tracks that folded together very nicely. Thank for the mix.

j1: some nice music played, but the recording was really really poor

j3: Harmonic, well-builted work with own athmosphere

j5: awesome tracklist and build-up, great mixing skills, very cool house set.

j7: classic style, classic feeling, great music, sounds little old-scholl, but oh-too-few people play this style nowadays. great work done!!!

j8: I was unable to get into this mix and really enjoy the beats. Mixing is still of a high level.

j9: Good Vibrations, with this set

IDC 09 - Acidic Seduction - Loay Salama

j1: very random mix, not much thought put in it, weak mixing and some dramatic volume differences

j3: Hard to find any reason, why is it calls "mix"... broke pieces, no transition, no composition. I'm really sorry, I hate say this but  for me its not a work.

j5: bad funky house set, the mixing is dreadful, tracklist is too commercial, didnt like it at all.

j7: ghm... there's no dj-play.. looks like someone's favorite tracks with similar instruments... and no feeling...

j8: Nice mix with some excellent mixing. I liked the style. Thanks for the mix
