In Musicbee, by genre and then by year
By artist, then by set or album alphabetically.

lots of folders on my home network but they all contain folders for each DJ. I also have a subsonic server online where i have 1TB of sets so I can stream them in work. 
the machine turns and the sound flow...
Folder : Music
Folder's : All ; 2pac ; Clips ; Emo track's ; House ; Set's ; Set's2 ; Sounds ; Track's ; Track's2 ; Trance
Folder's : All ; 2pac ; Clips ; Emo track's ; House ; Set's ; Set's2 ; Sounds ; Track's ; Track's2 ; Trance

Each artist has their own folder each album has it's own folder, all tracks tagged using Easytag and shared on home network from my media server.
Still using Winamp and iTunes until I find something better.
