let's give POINTS a fresh start (next big change), page 1

hi. here i would like to announce the next big thing on tribalmixes.com. it concerns you, your points and the way community will operate starting a few days from now...

our community has been rapidly growing last few months, it really shows in new user registrations (600-800 new comers every week as of late), increased forum interactions, more massive downloads, comments, likes, and many other little things. the fact that ALL direct download sites are taking half of their content from tribalmixes speaks for itself as well. not only people all over the world are starting to realize the power of our community, but all those smaller sites are once again looking up to us, we are the trend-givers resumed, as it was back in 2006-2008. our uploaders team have been infused with many new faces coming from such sites as mixriot, themixingbowl, etc..

originally in 2006 we've introduced a special bonus feature - POINTS - as a way to encourage users to do things on the site. and now we're about to do the same thing, only with a twist.. what is going to happen? read on... =)

1. all your old points will soon disappear...

why? we want to start points from zero, to give everyone a clean fresh start. that said, accumulating points will now become an ongoing competition, with top achievers displayed on main page and in top 10/20 charts.

2. ... and will be automatically turned into upload credits

if you want to use them for something else - please, go ahead and do so. but when the time comes, all leftovers will be taken from you and changed into upload credit awards (which won't expire for long time)..

3. all unused boost awards will be auto-applied to your account

...and changed into upload credit awards as well

4. old torrents reaching 100 downloads will still give awards

as mentioned in faq, at this time it is 2500 points for torrents reaching 100 snatches. so this is the only way to somewhat cheat, but rather invest and carry some old-times into the new points era. we promised points for popular torrents - you will still get them...

5. from that moment on - everyone is welcome to resume stockpiling

the more points you get, the higher you'll clime in the top 20 contributors (by points) and the more respect will be given to you among the tribalmixes community.

6. how to make the most points every day by just hanging around

read FAQ and see what you can do to earn points every day on tribalmixes. virtually any action you take, short of simple browsing the pages, will result in points. some will be applied directly to your account, bigger amounts will be given to you as awards. seeding, uploading, commenting, posting, rating, getting rated, etc - all these actions and interactions will give you points. save them or use them - it's up to you. we only want a fair competition to be resumed once again.

back in the day, power users and VIP-s uploaded many new torrents, now it's only the uploaders team that does anything. obviously, sharing torrents is the fastest and easiest way to accumulate points, and we're really hoping that everyone will once again start sharing their favorite DJs' and their own mixes here on tribalmixes, start spending more time online, start commenting more, start taking active part in life of this wonderful community.

what else is there to say? just the fact that 3 of the main stockpiles with over 3.5 million points in total have already approved this move and spent their points, mostly for upload credit.

we are ready to hear your thoughts about this, although there's no turning back, and once again after 7 years and millions of earned and spent points, we're back down to zero and starting this race anew. wishing everyone good luck and great competitive years to come! =)

ps. there's no set date as to when this will happen, but everything will be done fairly and according to steps above. noone will lose points completely, they will all be turned into upload credit, for everyone. some of us will skyrocket right away, depending on past half-year input (i.e. earlier-shared torrents turning ratio-free, getting rated, etc), but generally this is point zero for all of us...

It needs to start quick tho as nothing will get uploaded for next few days lol.

as i said, there's no exact date/time, it'll be a surprise... so go on, keep uploading. you'll still get ratio-free bonuses.. and 500 points per upload - that's no that much to reserve sets for later.

I've been gaining my points since 2006 , and honestly i use them wisely since then .... and seeing them disappear will upset me btw .... even if i will get them again ..... am happy with what i gained

i understand you were upset, but as moderators, you should understand, this is for the better, for the benefit of the site and community as a whole!

easy come, easy go slash.... you can't take them with you... it doesn't make you a better person... its better to spend them and enjoy them!!!

i'm also a little bit sad to lose my points but, its a chance to make them again, but if i spend them now, wouldn't i leave my place in the top ten tribe leaders in points ?
