what is wrong with him ?

just because he can't upload?

dude that's the rules and i personally read a lot of f.a.q. so i can upload right so i think you can start reading and stop acting like a ******

and don't change the rule because who isn't careful with that rule he doesn't care about tribal mixes community and he/she doesn't deserve to be here (of course there are special exceptions ex. if you come home after a 2 day party and you are stoned and drunk and upload something that i guess we can understand or if you are a good uploader)

when someone gets fully proven guilty and fails in something that was intended to be achieved by the instant-attack phenomenon, they usually move on to personal insults, like this user did here.. well, solid and stated criticizing of the rules or any other website particle is really welcome here and anywhere in forums or personally messaged. but if someone wants to call this place names, - that is completely rude and uncalled for and will always be stopped.

I have in my collection approximetely 2-5 TB of dj sets, most of which are not obtainable anymore on the web, however because of the ruling of losing uploading rights,(which in all honesty does seem to be just a little bit harsh),I wouldn`t even consider uploading any of them here.I have in the past sent a private message to an uploader with a link for them to obtain a set from me,but for me to find out if my sets were previously uploaded would take forever,so I will not commit that kind of time to the research!
However,I can understand why these rules have to be in place, and it would be total chaos if they were'nt.
Users don`t always have unlimited downloads, and are quite disgruntled when using bandwidth to download something that they think is new, when in fact they have already downloaded it.

for this exists the [e]-browser, which in general carries info of up to 200-300 torrents per dj, usually it will be 5-10, but no matter, for great names we have more... if you're talking older sets that you haven't messed with by re-encoding and stuff, - they will be easy to find by sorting the list of torrents in [e]browser according to torrents' sizes, and comparing to your files sizes. then again, sets with distinct names like "sasha live in Peking", you can do a simple browser ctrl+F search on the page for "peking", of course you need to have the "active torrents" opened for sasha, before you do search. after you do these "steps" for 4-5 torrents, upload them and enjoy the people enjoying them, - you will get better at "finding", and it will be taking 80% less time than it's done in the beginning... so next 30-40 torrents will be piece a cake, and well, having 40-50 torrents uploaded, you can ask to be promoted to uploaded, and never worry about doubles again. i mean, do worry, check and stuff, but if uploader's torrent get removed, uploader doesn't suffer any damage in general...

I wanted to write something long and nice but well , site refreshed and my text got lost. So just shortly, i recently lost my uploader rights too because i uploaded a re-broadcast with no chance of knowing it was a re-broadcast. Well, only if i would download all previous sets and listen to them to check that out. But this i would never do. You can keep your 'no-exception'-like rules but know this, now i will still be able to download anything on the site with my 29+ ratio but i won't contribute anything anymore. And i dont feel this is the best way to create the community. Your choice.

this is a never-ending story... this is from the website log.

2008-04-24 17:28:06 torrent 27959 (Armin Van Buuren - Armin Only - 19-Apr-2008) was deleted by slash (better quality and longer video was uploaded by nomer9. at 2008-04-24 07:20:58 - exactly 12hrs ago a letter was sent to RAVER asking to remove this torrent. no reaction followed. torrent is removed according to website rules. uploader looses uploading rights.)

to everyone reading this: did i have the rights (according to rules) to remove this torrent? user nomer9 has uploaded a better quality video, longer video than have originally RAVER had done... thus worser quality was to be removed from the website. i contacted the uploader of the worser file, waited for TWELVE hours, allowing the uploader some time to remove their upload. nothing happened. one of the other reasons to remove that torrent was uploaders VERY SMALL sharing speed, which averaged about 10kb/s - everyone, please, remember - such a small speed, - don't upload megapacks!! well, after these 12hrs, when i saw the new better quality and bigger size video was already uploaded and well seeded (thanks to nomer9's good speeds), i decided to remove the other weaker video manually, thus preventing RAVER from uploading in the future. creates some controversy? i think so...

what does this situation tell us and teach us all (or should teach and tell) in general?
  • it is only illegal uploads (commercial etc) that get removed from the website instantly (or as soon as someone from staff notices). all other uploads that are complying with the rules, but in some cases either doubling other existing uploads, or maybe carrying worser quality of the present torrents, all in all torrents that must be removed from the website, - those torrents are usually allowed some times, up to 10-12 hours in some cases, so that torrent uploaders themselves were able to remove their 'bad' torrents, by doing it on their own, uploaders do not loose their privileges.
  • if uploader ignores/cannotsee the comments/personal messages from others telling to remove the torrent - it is solely a fault of the uploader themselves, which shows pretty much, that after uploading torrent, its owner doesn't really care/pay attention to what happens next. here comes the loss of privileges again...
  • as a home work, fill in 1 more thing you've learned here... =)

  • first of all, why do you blame website for loosing your text? the only parts that refresh on their own are showtbox and inbox-notifier, so it was your own fault (like clicking somewhere, e.g. backspace or other browser-history-buttons). so why do you want to start a conversation with acquisitions? yes, website is known to get rid of your half-ready message if you click a wrong button, but it never does so on its own will, you know...

  • and another thing.. uploading isn't about ratio, it is about THE DESIRE TO BRING EVERYONE NEW, FRESH, UNHEARD, QUALITY MUSIC, desire coming from YOU and YOU ONLY. wanna put something into this community? do research what you're bringing in. do take care of your homework. it's not a public dump over here, - we do not take kindly everything that users wanna shove on the torrents page, we only want fresh/unheard stuff. why do WE HAVE TO SUFFER and download stuff WE ALREADY HAVE??? why is it OUR PROBLEM, but not YOURS??? yes, we, staff, are looking for ways to PREVENT YOU FROM UPLOADING DOUBLED SHOWS, and that is solely to ALLOW YOU TO KEEP UPLOADING, so that we will not have to delete your torrents, taking away your rights and privileges...

this is a never-ending story, going in circles and circles, loop after loop, it keeps happening every day... and noone, NOONE can answer a damn simple easy and short question: why do we have to do all the work??? can you guys do just a little bit - just check, which shows can easily be rebroadcasts, which radios do that on regular basis, look around, memorize 2-3 things, you are given at least 4 weeks of time before you can upload anything here, just get used to the ways we do it here... why do people keep coming into our house and try to change the rules this house was standing on for years and will be standing, all based on these rules... why does it keep happening?

do you know the answer, mades?

So many words, yet so little you said. Basically that its all the mistake of us, users,  to create so much work for you , the admins. And still we got the courage to complain.
But isn't the users themselves the essence which keeps this website going? The bandwidth, the music, the money  ??
"Why do we have to do all the work???"  Because you are administrators, owners. Because it is in your interest to have as many good users as possible sharing, donating. Even if they do mistakes time-to-time. Second chance is the keyword here.

Regarding my "mistake". Since when does FG re-broadcast on regular basis. How the heck could i know it was a rebroadcast. I understand the punishment but on TEMPORAL not PERMANENT basis.

You claim "the rules this house was standing on for years" and still you suffer problems regarding donating and stuff, according to the site. Let me tell you this, i was prepared to donate within the time not only because i wanted to build up my reputation in the TM community but also because i love dance music and live sets. But now, it won't happen. And i don't care because i don't need to share anything. It was my DESIRE TO BRING EVERYONE NEW, FRESH, UNHEARD, QUALITY MUSIC, to use your own words. There was no other motivation behind my activity  and now this is gone. How many users like myself did this happen to during those years ? You should know.

By the way. I don't blame the website for getting my text lost, it was probably my mistake and i only described what happened, i didn't accuse anyone, anything. You probably wanted to say "accusations". And you took it way too personal.

It is so sad, if you, the admin, the owner, blame me, the user, the contributor, about not doing my "homework", about taking your site as "public dump". With your rules in place, i will not suffer really. But your users and community will, because they will not get my bandwidth (they used it quite heavily) and they will not get my uploads (they downloaded my stuff  quite frequently).

Please, think about it. That we are just humans and we can do mistakes. That forgiveness and second chance are basic "features" which , if you don't grant, you don't motivate. If i should be scared of uploading the new stuff, because of situation like this, i will not upload at all. Fear is NO MOTIVATION.

Maybe you'd see this from a different point of view if you were a member for (let's say) more than 1.5 years. In the past, mistakes were NOT counted, that was the time when power users started flooding the site - uploading EVERYTHING they got... Old sets, already uploaded sets, etc... not to mention the dating issues, not seeded torrents... that's when we started counting the mistakes. If you think a little about this then you should realize it's for the good of users... If power users have only one chance (and if they're really interested in uploading), then maybe they'll spend that 2-3 minutes checking the e-browser... Or is it that hard checking if something is already uploaded? Or checking if it's commercial?

Btw, on "forgiveness"/second chance... If you'd show forgiveness for anyone, then others would come too, and ask for your forgiveness also. That wouldn't be a problem, but after some time everyone would count on your forgiveness... and the results? Doubled sets, commercial stuff, etc..

Maybe you misunderstood something, it's not about making power users fear of uploading... it's all about trying to maintain the quality of uploaded sets...

i get hot, when someone blames my kids for things they've never done.. =) it is truly a problem of mine and i need to work on it. nevertheless, i can say honestly, there were users that were deeply upset with the policies, and recently, and long ago, and will be in the future.. i will try to be short on this one, trust me..

which one calls "fear" another does "respect to the others". deeply into being so unrighteously offended with the loss of opportunity to donate and improve your 'reputation' here (now your uploading privileges been taken), be a bigger man than those opposing you and do donate what you wanted to, and then later bringing up these issues, be sure that donators really do soften the judgment put on them with the sole fact of their prior and quite possible subsequent donations. this is not a publicly covered topic, and reasons beyond such behaviors from me are well understandable, don't you think, mades? and be sure, if we do mistakes, we gladly accept it at the end, and bring our apologies too, if circumstances get out of normal 'sorry's...

but of course, you're right, this website holds on its users and their presence, and after 3 consistent years online with over 100 million hits a month, we've been forgetting about it, being dragged down in the avalanche of day-to-day life, not paying too much attention to every little detail, still leaving some of our   own supporters unsatisfied and unhappy, and i guess, i've learned something during this time: - some of us will always be like that, they'll slip up and blame the system for wet floors, and nothing i can do with it, and well, the last advise to wrap it up, - at least we give an opportunity to fall, but those who cannot deal with it can simply try to make it somewhere else, that's how this site happened in general, and list of rules and regulations is a cumulative result of many thoughts and thoughts and thoughts, particularly including your current situation, which roughly describes the origins of this website's story...

"then maybe they'll spend that 2-3 minutes checking the e-browser... "

I DID THAT. EVERY SINGLE TIME. EVEN TWICE, because i always read and respect the rules. I also did a quality check and i uploaded only stuff i liked, not everything i could. I didn't flood the site in any way. So my question again is, HOW SHOULD I KNOW it was a re-broadcast on FG, if FG guestmixes are not re-broadcasts on regular basis. I placed the torrent online before i went to bed and the following morning it was deleted together with my rights. There is a 'report' button for you , admins, but not for us , the uploaders. How should i know? You still didn't tell me that.

And slash, your answer regarding donation was something i fully expected. "Donate now and we will see".

I don't even know why im writing all the stuff, because i didn't loose anything beside my chance to grow here. You lost. And i know i won't change anything, but i wanted you to know. You can have a "zero fault tolerance" in the datacenter with all active components doubled. But don't expect it from humans. If you don't distinguish between "flooding the site" and doing a single mistake with a good history results,  then your point of view is just black-and-white and you don't want users like myself, who are not faultproof, to be here.

What about letting your community vote about this rule on a neutral platform? Whether they support permanent or temporal ban ? Do you have the courage to do it ?
