But as you can see noone will do this implementation because they think it's a waste of time... So maybe all of them should write here and Slash will implement but as long as they are stupid... We can.t help them :(

ps. i didn't quie get luca's point, because we're not talking about crediting users for nothing, we talking giving them some credit for uselessly seeding them torrents that noone downloads. basically, guys, if you think about it wisely, you will see, that this 'uploads for nothing' thing is NOTHING compared to uploads themselves, i mean, if you seed 10 torrents for 1 week and upload nothing on them, it is basically equal to 20MB of credit, and those 20MB you can upload them in just 10 minutes seeding something @ 30kb/s. you will need about 1 day for one torrent uploading it at 1kb/s to make those 20MB, so basically if someone decides to go with the flow and get points and never upload back - he won't be able to do it, even if he posts 100 forums posts a day and rates 100 torrents/hour. still those points won't be enough to cover his music needs, so basically this feature will only give REAL help to those who has warning and is standing really close to minimum ratio, to raise it to minimum. otherwise it's 1000 times better to keep uploading even at 1KB/s speed.

well, as for the future of this 'project/plan' thing, some of you guys can remember when banners just started here, there was one announcing featured dj torrents to become free downloads. well, there was 2-3 happy shouts and no more. no reaction, then that system i came up with at that time showed to be really insecure, so i decided not to do it.. but now again it arises, this time it's a secure idea without sneaking to raise ratio for nothing. but again people are silent.. i'm thinking on making an announcement system, because mass mailing takes too much resources, there will be a line below the control panel above there, that will announce some important news, great new torrents, and things like this - call to draw to discussion of power users on how to help warned users, who never cares about anything...

all right.. i see it all chilled down here... well... let's do it like this... i think it's fair and goes along with common sense... if FIVE or more warned users post in this thread from today and within 7 days from this message, i will code this thingie and do it all as described here. if none of them taken-care-of-warned-users or less than 5 post in here, then i will just think about very few priviledges that will be possible for exchange for immortal points, as well as rewards for featured-djs-downloads and stuff.

ps why was i sure from the start of this thread that noone will care about it? well... i've been here from the very beginning... i know...

because this is the same thing happens in every discussion related to users

They are jurks :(

probably i did not explain myself clearly so i'll try and do it again  ;-)

Giving credit for seeding is a good idea but i was just trying to point out the fact that if a user seeds a 3 months old torrent could do it just because he knows that nobody or maximum 1 user is going to download that and so he actually knows that seeding old torrents actually does not affect anything he is doing and will actually give him credit!!
i am thinking that seeding a 3 months old torrent or a fresh one is not really the same and whatever decision is taken it must prevent who, like all of us reading and writing threads constantly, is working to keep their ratios at a calm level

Hmmm.... Didn't think at this. You are right... But this can't be a problem. We could give credit only on torrents no older than 5 days. And after that the usual seeding

but then what's the sense in having torrents being active for 3 months on the website? so that newcomers could browse and browse, and then user would find some new name and download them, and whatever...
Harkonnenlightning The Evil One on July 3rd, 2006 / post 6877
So we do have a problem.... I think ONLY OLD torrents should have this credit. But I think the best ideea is BUYING 1GB uploat at 1000 points and seeding for an hour should get you 0.5 points or 1 point... I think is fair enough...

all right now, this is going to be OFFICIAL and is going to end up in F.A.Q. at the end of all.. it's not the final version/decision, but it is how it's going to be implemented for now, suggest your improvements.

points given for seeding::
  • please note that seeding a torrent for 1 week without uploading any data on it will be about equal to just 5-10 minutes of uploading data to someone on speed of 5-10kb/s, so basically these points add up for solidness and show that more people seed more they get immortal rating pumping.
  • undead torrents stand apart. since torrents become undead after that many snatches, that not many people will download them again, but seeding undead torrents is good for all new users to be able to download them, because many torrents after becoming undead double their downloads number in a month or so.. so basically for seeding an UNDEAD torrent you will receive 0.0002 points per 1 minute. and this is the highest points you will get for seeding any torrent, but any everlife torrent gives 2*10^-4 points at any moment.
  • seeding a regular non-everlife torrent is a little complicated. since in first week we usually see torrents become undead, all data transfers are at that point. so first week of seeding a regular non everlife torrent gives no points at all for seeding, only uploading data on it. then 1 week after upload date, if you're still seeding this torrent, it (if didn't become undead yet) starts giving you points little little points - 0.00000001, and as older the torrent grows, as more points you get for seeding it. after 6 weeks torrent has been on the website, seeding it will give you the maximum amount of points - 0.0002 - same as everlife torrent at any moment of time. this is maxxed until torrent is removed from the website (if is gets removed...) ... so basically every day torrent lives after that week for next 5 weeks or 35 days, it gets a little increase of 2*10^-4/35 ~ 6*10^-6, which added up sums up into 0.0002 by the end of 6th week. this way the older torrent gets, the more points you get for seeding it. now you see that seeding everlife torrents for flatrate is explainable, otherwise they woudl give maaaaddd points..
  • for cases when AZUREUS crashes and starts reregistering many many peers, no immortal  points  gets awarded..
  • there will be no doubled/multiplied upload credit for uploading on any kinds of torrents, but there will be debits for downloading everlife torrents. featured dj torrents are turned into UNDEAD everlife in first hours by admins, other torrents hit everlife on getting 150 (currently) snatches, but whenever a torrent becomes undead, if you name is already in the list of snatchers, you receive an award....

    AWARDS .. explained
  • awards will be given for few kinds of actions, but most commonly you will receive an award for downloading an everlife torrent or for being a listed snatcher of a torrent that has just gained undead status. that will be a full download amount reimbursment in first case and 75% in second case (if torrent hits everlife in more than first week of life). that award will be as XXX MB DOWN DECREASE and will be applied towards your DOWNLOADED AMOUNT DECREASE correspondingly for full rollback or partial one. so this only tells - seed everlife torrents as much as possible, not only they give points, but also people will be downloading them more when they turn ratio free
  • awards will be accessible throught your outlook, but they will require your action as a click on a link or a button click so nothing here will be automated (points for seeding will be auto added), this is just to show you're active on the website, because it's not good to come once a week to collect rewards...
  • an award will have expiry date of 1 week from being awarded. there will be messages in your mailbox here saying, blah-blah do this. maybe even enter this code there to claim it. if more than a week or some specified period of time past creation date this award isn't redeemed, it disappears and deactivates and code will not be accepted.
  • there will also be awards of these types :: upload increase, immortal rating boost (+XXXpoints), free upload slot, +1 invite when website goes invite only, maybe some more, like for warned users, either bring their ratio to 1.10*their_reqired_minimum, or multiply ratio by 5, but again it's for warned users, and here goes the next part...

    LOTTERY
  • lottery will be a daily drawing say at 12:00:00 GMT that will award a number of each type of prize to all who take part in this lottery and aquire tickets for it. there will be equal amout of tickets issued every day so at times with low % of tickets taken by users with high leftovers no winners might be possible, and when all tickets will be given out and lottery becomes really popular, then there will be a winner for each prize in the lottery.
  • each ticket will be exchanged for XX of your immortal points, maybe for just 1 or for 0.1% of all your points, anyways it will cost your immortal rating some decrease... :)
  • lottery will use awards system, so all expired awards will expire etc...

    other usage of immortal points
  • first of all you will be able to give up some immortal points being a user or a power user (v.i.p.s and higher can do it freely) to display power title at those forum posts and comments.
  • for quite a few points you'll be able to receive free download spree time, when all your downloads will turn into awards, so no ratio change..
  • 1 point will be exchabged for 1MB upload credit. this is designed for users with warnings earning their points of 'empty seeding' without uploading due to no downloaders, and is a small reward, need 5000 minutes / 24*60 minutes = about 3.5 days seeding 1 torrent, or just 50 minutes seeding 100 torrents. so basically it's not a way to raise your ratio, but a way used to help get rid of warning or improve ratio just a little bit. person with 1000 points gets 1GB of upload credit for exchange, and even those seeding many torrents accumulated many points having say 1TB uploaded will not see any ratio raise ever on 10K points, just increasing their uploads to 1010GB.
  • whatever else you offer i consider possible...

so how does all this sound? and what add/remove?
  • Harkonnenlightning The Evil One on July 8th, 2006 / post 7242
I think there is a little complicated and I did't understand if the featured Dj's are free download and when a download get free!

It sounds great, hopefully it will help solve some of the ratio problems.  I cant think of anything to add or remove.
