well if its gonna be big then i support it ..if its gonna be a ussles stream broadcasting random mixes by well known djs then i think its a bad idea :)

but i want to ask slash something if we really go through with this radio ,,,when we reach 10000k users the invitation system will be applied so the radio wont be accesible to everyone ???.

I like the tribalmixes-community! Allways great plans and projects!!  I'm curios about this radio-thing.
But for me: I don't listen radio since i know tribalmixes.com. (I haven't been to a musicstore since 5 months  ) I've downloaded  ~60gB (incl. 5.5.06) fantastic sound, but i heard only ~50gB. It means i have 10gB of awesome sound left (and every day comes new fantastic sound up). The only things i need is: tribalmixes.com, this great staff/community and  maiby a day from 30hours. (And for sure: i need a english-teacher!)
I  tribalmixes.com! Slash for president :-)

you can't  send data to satelite like that. you must have a provider who sends signal to satelite.same way like tv signal.

i know, i was just kidding about it. could be cool, if possible, right? :)

as for zahran's question, invite system isn't started at 10k users, maybe @20k, or even later. radio will be interconnected with the website, at first i think it will be only for users, then after 2-3 months of running and testing it will go global and be for everyone with or without account on tribalmixes - doesn't matter. only something special will be played, no well-known-djs-with-many-snatched-mixes. don't worry about that. who needs another dull playlist?

i understand i think its a good idea ..this would really help our users to share thier mixes

This sounds a good idea. It would definitely require a lot of planning. When I listen to internet radio streams I usually pick my mood (i.e. chill, trance, breaks...whatever) then type say 'chill' in winamp’s list of shoutcast streams and pick one I like. I am interested if other ppl choose internet radio streams in this way. I think if this radio launches its needs a wide audience and needs to be listed in many places i.e. in the winamp list, other sites etc.

I also think you could look at the stats of this website, to see how many users there are online say each hour over a 24 period. This would give a very rough forecast for potential listeners and also indicate quiet periods. It could be used to see if ‘24/7’ is a viable option in the early stages. (Think pirate station, on at weekends only, and quiet at night)

I rarely listen to stream too, but I just care about the image of our site on the web ... and so, I think that running a radio is a very good push to put us on the top ... but the point is which mixes will be streamed ...... I suggest:
  • Tribalmixes podcasts and featured DJ's mixes should be the first priority
  • Live set weekly
  • A well known DJ set monthly

and about the invitation issue .. I don't like the rate of users joining (i know it's because of the many deleted accounts) but I'm just looking for a big community ..

you're right commisar... it will help shape the image of tribalmixes.com... as for the mixes and such... I would suggest having all of the dj's on the site to do a live set every week, other week, or month... we could fill a lot of slots, give chances to new dj's to be heard.....  but anyway, there are many ideas and plans that need to be discussed....

i dont know about that having a flood of amature mixes isnt a good thing we have to set some standards ...this is more complicated than i thought

well dj's would have to send a mix, and if it was good, then the dj would get to play.  maybe just get a mix played... I don't think it would be that hard... there are a lot of people on here that know what they are talking about when it comes down to good electronic music... plus forums about the station would allow us to see what people think.

yeah, that's what i'm saying. that is why there should some kind of backbone for that radio, few shows covering several music genres, and as i said, those "trusted" djs will have the ability to see what was uploaded for "tryouts", read its desc first, then download, if liked, and then either invite to make a new mix for that dj's show on tribalmixes radio, or just play that very mix, i see i should have addressed that all to zahran.. :) anyways, there can also be some kind of "trusted censors", who would be able to advise radio djs on submitted/uploaded mixes, telling what would sound great or whatever. there should be at least 2-3 people that will find time to listen to all uploaded mixes. and talking about uploaded mixes, means only those mixes made by users or just djs with intentions for tribalmixes radio submitted through special uploading mechanism onto ftp or whatever.

well, it will be alot of fresh meat, but on the other hand djs meet other djs and get to know some more djs etc, so some might invite some more known to make a show with them, or maybe Adrian Eftimie would like to have a show, maybe our other featured djs would like to... i don't know.. shows can be monthly, not only weekly..

well. summing it up, bodo was right, we need to make up a plan. but in that case, what plan.. i mean, can we only stick with radio for now, or try to embedd the idea of the radio into the future idea of tribalmixes, because radio will take some time to get well known as well. yes, we already have an auditorium of roughly 6k people.. but i doubt many will be listening to it. so radio should be advertised throughly and independently from the website. and it will be accessible without registration.

so at least we need to form out the plan and rules of how the webradio is going to work, how it all is going to be organized, get some promises and some action going, and then setitupandrun.

personally i love the idea...but you may be right bout ppl not downloading torrents. its just that im fighting a losing battle with my bandwidth....trying to get my ratio right.  I set utorrent to 0 on uploads and i cant even browse the internet. But i love the idea cause i search and search for live streams of tribal.......I dont have any sayso at all but just thought i'd add alittle bit. cant wait if it happens. I myself would still download though cause i dont totally understand it all but i wouldn't think that every torrent would be live streamed from here and the ones that arent streamed would have to be downloaded.
